Cannot stream to other client except DVBviewer

Hi there,

For some reason I cannot stream to any client except to my second DVBViewer installation on a my second computer. All on the same network.

DVBViewer on my main computer works fine. (This where my DVB-S2 is located)

DVBViewer on my second, that is connected to the Recording service works fine.

But on the following clients the same stream will not start. (One client at a time, so I am not trying to stream to multiple clients)( All 3 client are started locally)(Exceptions are made in my firewall)

DVBViewer web-player (Flowplayer)

VLC player v2.1.3 (with the use of streaming.m3u file)

XBMC 13.1 (with the use of DVBViewer client v1.9.15 add-on)

The following feedback I get from;

DVBViewer web-player (Flowplayer) >> never stops trying and does not give any feedback

XBMC 13.1 > tries to open stream until it times-out, no additional message

I would appreciate help with this.

Thank you.

Some how 1 line when't missing in my initial post:

VLC player v2.1.3 >> VLC is unable to open the MRL http:\\(ip adres of my main PC):3335. check the log for details.

I did some testing and found that when using DVBViewer web-player (Flowplayer), VLC player v2.1.3 or XBMC 13.1,

the tuning in to the channel in question fails do to false PMT and/or PAT request.

I did have trouble scanning for frequencies (channel) when using transponder from the transponder list option in the DVBViewer channel scan. So instead of using a specific transponder I selected the "none" option in the list. Scanning took much longer.

Trouble I got when using a specific transponder from the list, allot of frequencies (channels) where missing. When used 'none' it did find all frequencies but they also came up double.

Having channels multiple times in the channel list can cause problems.
The first version of a channel will always be used. Only the DVBViewer will use exactly the version of a channel you have selected.

Internally the RS (and DVBViewer for favourites and recordings) works with a channel ID (in which the frequency has no influence).

Any advice on how to rescan everything in a more accurate way? So that channels will not come up multiple times.

My DVB-S2 with dual tuner (tbs 6982) is connected to 2 switches and which has connection to 3 dual lnb's.

So I must use diseqc.

This option should have been removed from the application a long time  Use a current transponder.ini (should be part of the installation) for scanning (Diseqc has to be set accordingly).

so I have used the correct transponder file but that gave me alot of missing channels.

The diseqc where set in de channel scan option, I am guessing that this not the right way and should be done in the transponder.ini file.

Is this correct?

You can overrule the diseqc settings, though it won't change the transponder.ini. A better way is to use TransEdit (member's area). There you can edit a transponder.ini.

I used Transedit with a current transponder.ini file and made an scan and update.

Used the same transponder.ini file with channel scan and could see that an X amount of channels where missing.

Whent back to Transedit and did another scan and got an conformation that there are channels missing.

I have an channel export file from the time I made an scan without a transponder selection (none) cand can see, besides the same channel, the missing channels.

Why would using a transponder come up short?

so did a blindscan, see screenshot

as you can see NED2 HD comes up multiple times

this channel does not show up at all when a channel is done with transponder selection, see channel list screenshot

an channel list export of with and without transponder selection is also in the attachment

Why are you still fiddling with the useless blindscan function? Do you need a current transponder file from 23,5E and a scan? Well, here you are. Diseqc is set to A/B. You can change it in transedit and in the channel editor.

Btw. your configuration is not correct. If you use the RS, you have to disable the physical devices in the DVBViewer and create virtual devices instead.

I can see that you do not approve on how I presented you with the requested example.

I used blindscan because it provides the same data as if you would not use a transponder.ini when scanning for channels.

anyway apparently the transponder.ini file that I downloaded wasn't complete and/or correctly build.

The ini file that I got from you looks much better, thank you for that. Could you provide me also with Astra 19.2 and 28.2, much appreciated.

Regarding RS, I am aware. Thanks for the heads up.

As soon as I have the basics (channel list) in order I will do a re-test of my initial problem.

Multiple channels result from blind scan - the same transponder can get scanned several times. Transponder lists avoid this problem.

Up-to-date lists can be downloaded from several web-sites. kingofsat lets you download individual .ini files. fastsatfinder downloads them in bundles.

Remember to install the files in the configuration folder (ProgramData\CMUV\DVBViewer\Transponders). The Transponders files under Program Files\DVBViewer are not used in Windows 7.

It's common misunderstanding to think that this is a blindscan. DVBViewer/TransEdit doesn't support blindscan. For real blindscan special hardware is required that determines all necessary parameters automatically and reports them back to the scanning application. To avoid confusion at least the wrong term Blind Scan should be replaced ;)

well my channel list is now correct and up-to-date, no dubbel entries, again my thanks for the assistance.

Unfortunately my initial problem still exists.

The tuning in to the channel in question fails do to insufficient PMT and/or PAT that the clients receive.

I get the following from:

DVBViewer web-player (Flowplayer) >> never stops trying and does not give any feedback

VLC player v2.1.3 >> VLC is unable to open the MRL http:\\(ip adres of my main PC):3335. check the log for details.

XBMC 13.1 > tries to open stream until it times-out, no additional message

all three local on the same computer.

My guess is that RS is not sending correct or incomplete data to the clients,

except for DVBViewer client on my second computer apparently it can handle the data.

How can I get the streaming to non DVBViewer clients to work?

Link to comment

Problem arises with both FTA and NON-FTA.

Although I did find FTA and NON-FTA channels that functions only when I use DVBViewer on my other computer which connects to my main computer where RS is located.

Can you see the Recording Service web interface on the other PC?

I did the following:

- Opened the virtual network folder under Windows 7 -> it showed other PCs in my network plus an entry for the Recording Service running on another PC (called "DVBViewer Media Server" in the "Other Devices" section).

- Double-clicked the RS entry -> web interface opened in my browser.

- Went to Timeline, clicked a channel -> Streaming Config window opened.

- Clicked "Channelist (m3u)", the browser asked me what to do with it -> selected "open with VLC media player 2.1.3"

- VLC happily played the first channel in the list, the playlist contained all channels.

So no problem here. Please note that you can't use a m3u created on the PC where the RS is running for streaming channels to another PC, because the file will contain localhost IP addresses (127.0.0.1).

@Griga

Thanks for the explanation and yes I can see the RS on the other pc.

I tried all option that are available on the Web interface regarding streaming, on both locations

I started reading some more on the Web and found that other user of RS have problems simular to mine with RS v1.29 and because of this they refusing to update from the version they have already installed.

Seeing that I am a new user I only have v1.29 there is no going back but did find RS v1.26.

I replaced 1.29 with 1.26 and now everything REGARDING streaming to other clients seems to work.

I will do some more testing to make sure.

I would appreciate it if one of you guys would make v1.27 and v1.28 of RS available for me so that I can test with those also.

By the way my version of RS 1.29 is a beta version, is this how it should be?

Kind regards, Phyxius

Please provide the requested RS versions.

I am not behind the pc with which I found the issue of RS v1.29, all post them when I am there.

Thanks

Sorry, I don't have the access rights that are required for providing RS versions in the members area.

Since streaming from Recording Service 1.29 to VLC 2.1.3 on another PC works flawlessly here, and there are no beta testers reporting something different, special conditions seem to prevent streaming in your case (or enable it in my case, dunno). The difficult point is to find out which conditions are responsible for this difference. That's why I want the links, just for comparison.

Is there anybody else who can confirm that streaming from Recording Service 1.29 to VLC on another PC does work / does not work? Please refer to my proceeding posted here, and make sure that the firewall settings are allowing VLC to access the stream.

Could you provide me with contact details of who can provide me with v1.27 and v1.28, maybe an link or an e-mail address.

I am glad that it works fine for you guys, unfortunately it does not for me. NOT when I use 1.29.

The fact that when I replace v1.29 for v1.26 solves most, maybe all (have do some more tests), of my initial problem. This fact should bring more insight to the matter.

Regarding your request, I (re)found 3, while on my lunch break, here and here and here

That being said I am willing to help you guys finding which part of RS v1.29 is causing this issue but seeing that you guys have much more insight you have to take the lead, and I am assuming that your are in someway involved in the build of RS 1.29.

Thanks

If you look into DVBViewer program folder (not profile) there is a folder "setup" that contains all your previous personalized RS setup versions you installed on the machine. Only until you removed the folder, formatted your drive etc.

Link to comment

@HaraldL

The setup folder contains only that what "you" have installed.

Still no response to my request for v1.27 and v1.28, NOT EVEN after my direct e-mail to DVBViewer. Did not expect this to be so difficult, maybe everybody at DVBViewer is on holiday.........

The developers will only support the current version. I've attached links below, though I don't know if mods will let them stay. The files uploaded were the ones downloaded from the members area, but I can't guarantee the integrity of that upload site. Use at your own risk.

I have 1.29 on one PC and 1.26 on another, identical machine. Streaming works OK on both when I tested. When I first tried it some time ago (more than a year), I couldn't get it to work either. I don't know what fixed the problem. Given the involvement of 3rd party software, this will not be an easy issue to debug.

It is not permitted to upload anything from the member section else ware (except you have permission from the author, but that is very unlikely).

QBox User is currently suspended for some days.

And will mostly lose his DVBViewer license and will mostly be Suspended for ever from this forum.

But the final decision is up to Christian, so we will see what happens.

@Phyxsius7

There is no way to get a old version you have not saved on you own or is in the member section.

And other version will not be added there.

If someone get a special version from the developers for testing it is always based on the current version.
