chi
want to watch outside my home. I can do this with my VU solo+ but want to know if I can do it with DVBViewer recording service or DVBViewer itself? Quote Link to comment
Cian
You can access the Recording Service remotely. You need to be able to configure your modem/router and PC firewall to allow acces from the outside world to the recording service and also to route the signal from outside to find it's way to your PC running the RS. 1. Find out the IP adderss of the recording service. 2. Find out the external IP address of your modem. 3. Configure your router to re-map the external access to the RS. This varies from modem to modem to so you will need to find the manual for your particular router. If all this seems a bit daunting, I sometimes just use TeamViewer (a Remote Desktop application) installed on the RS machine and on the external machine. The picture quality is not as good, but it is a lot easier! C. Quote Link to comment
SimonP
In other words, in the Port Forwarding section of your router, forward ports 7522, 8089 and 8090 (plus 8889 if you want to use the uPnP server) to the IP address of the computer running the RS. Also allow those ports to pass in your computer's firewall. I think that's correct? I keep meaning to set it up but haven't got around to it so hopefully someone will confirm.
