ostifnqr
Hi, I'm just testing the demo version of DVBViewer 5.1.0. and Technisat CableStar Combo HD CI card with Technisat Conax Technicrypt CX CAM module which I obtained from my local cable TV provider together with an appropriate smart card. All non-encrypted channels are ok but I cannot watch encrypted channels only EPG. Needless to say my CAM module works fine in LG and Philips TVs and I have the "Has CI module" option checked. When I insert CAM module in CableStar card the "Show CAM" option becomes active and I can open the CAM menu. This however remains empty all the time. By the way, I browsed through all help files available for DVBViewer and didn't find any information about what to do with CAM menu and what should I expect in it. Especially, what does the mysterious "Please enter code" prompt mean? What code and where can I get it? I have made extensive research on the Internet and found suggestions from desperate users that the problem is in flawy Technisat drivers and they managed to solve it by using alternative drivers from other manufacurers of TV cards which were clones of Technisat CableStar Combo HD CI (among other Terratec H7 card was mentioned). Has anyone here tried this? Is it possible to install drivers dedicated for strange hardware at all? I would appreciate receiving any ideas and hints on what should I do to get my CAM module working. Getting any support from Technisat is virtually not possible as they discontinued this product and don't care anymore. I'm determined to buy full version of DVBViewer but without encrypted channels it's useless for me. Attached is my hardware.xml file. hardware.xml Best regards. Quote Link to comment
Tony
Technisat CableStar Combo HD CI can not work with CI Plus interface, Quote Link to comment
Derrick
Who says CI+ ?? It's either the driver or an additional dll that takes care of the CI. Maybe it's not in the demo. Quote Link to comment
Tony
Unfortunately, Technisat not released drivers that support standard CI+. Cards CableStar Combo HD CI (USB) and CableStar HD2 (PCI) only work with CA modules for older standard CI. Quote Link to comment
Tony
... Technisat Conax Technicrypt CX CAM module... Oops, I missed... Quote Link to comment
ostifnqr
Tony, to my best knowledge Technisat Conax TechniCrypt CX is not CI+ but CI CAM module and my cable TV operator does not use CI+ at all. I have checked out two versions of TechniCrypt CX: new and older one and none of them works with any DVBViewer version. I think my last resort is the message of logos66 in his post of 18 Apr 2012 so I'm going to replace TechniCrypt CX module for Conax Smit and give it a try. By the way, is anyone using DVBViewr CAM menu? If so would you let me know please what should I see there? Is "Please enter code" prompt related to parental control or something? ostifnqr
Hi, I solved the problem by myself and got my CableStar Combo HD CI decoder working with encrypted channels at last! However, replacement of Conax Technicrypt CX module for Conax Smit one (like logos66 did) in my case did not work at all. Instead I uninstalled Technisat drivers and installed AzureWave alternatives (http://######/download/files/AzureWave_30.08.2010.rar). This is feasible because AzureWave decoder appears to be clone of Technisat CableStar Combo HD CI product (or vice versa). Now I can watch encrypted channels and have access to CAM menu which simply shows the technical data of CAM module and allows some changes in its configuration. Technicrypt CX module works as well as Conax Smit now. One small problem still persists though that some encrypted channels cannot be decrypted. This however is definately caused by the demo version of DVBViewer I'm using or a bug in it. I hope it would not occur in full version. So, do not use Technisat drivers and have a good day :-). ostifnqr
Hi, I'ts me again. The aforementioned issue of some channels that still could not be decrypted was resolved by iteself. A few days ago I simply launched DVBViewer demo as I used to do and unexpectedly found all the encrypted channels available! From that point on I have stable access to all FTA and encrypted channels I subscribed to. I started using the registered version of DVBViewer 5.3.2 on Windows 8.1 then and everything works fine as yet. Quote Link to comment
