fxv1 Posted July 28, 2016 Share Posted July 28, 2016 Just a question which I am not sure has an answer. At the monent I am monitoring UHD Demo on Astra 2A (UK) and I get discontinuities. Not many and it does not happen that often, I get many 2 per minute. I have adjusted my dish using a meter and am on 94% signal on that channel. My question is this, does latency settings affect the discontinuities, I have tried with 250, 300, 350, 400 up to 600 and not sure it makes a difference for me. The other question is does SD, HD and UHD need different latency settings ? On the allocated buffers I see 795 allocted and Queued video buffers around the 420 mark. My CPU load is at 20% and GPU load flactuating between 5% and 80% Quote Link to comment

fxv1 Posted July 29, 2016 Author Share Posted July 29, 2016 (edited) Just tested with MadVR, get a black screen. Had a look at the filter settings, nothing obvious for UHD in there. I have no Idea where the problem can be, you can try with madvr, but I read it UHD is still buiggy with MadVR. (so don't bother if you have a black screen there) I also have no idea if the problem is with the decoder or the renderer...settings seems ok... DVB Source Filter "Latency = 0" DVB Source Filter "Clock Selection = Audio Clock" DirectX options "Render Late Pictures = Unchecked" Leave everything else as it is now, including the EVR Custom. The discontinuities are most often due to a problem in the reception or signal transport. Do you have discontinuities for regular HD and SD channels? Quote Link to comment

Also happens on HD channels. This also was an issue for me when I had the AMD R9 270x (on HD Channels) on DVB-S2 I get no problems on DVB-T2 channels on HD or SD channels. Quote Link to comment

Griga Posted July 29, 2016 Share Posted July 29, 2016 Discontinuies can be caused by (1) weak or disturbed signal (a good signal strength doesn't necessarily mean a good signal quality!) (2) driver issues (e.g. insufficient buffering that usually can not be influenced, may take effect in case of high CPU load or latencies caused by other drivers, see explanation given here). (3) hardware limitations, limited bus bandwidth (4) discontinuous broadcasts, particularly demo loops where the continuity counter at the end doesn't fit the one at the beginning. Take your choice UHD Demo on Astra 2A (UK) The one on 12441 V? No discontinuities here shown by the TransEdit Analyzer (see download area, recommended tool for checking such things, no playback involved, my PC can't play it anyway...). I'm using a Hauppauge Nova S2 HD connected to a 55 cm dish in the western part of Germany. Quote Link to comment

blasgl Posted July 29, 2016 Share Posted July 29, 2016 A new card won´t help if you have reception issues due to bad cables or connectors. I´d rule this out first. Then you might want to have a shot at newer drivers for your card. Regarding a new card, the DigitalDevices are probably the best around. But the prices are steep. Quote Link to comment
