HE-AAC v2 audio sample rate reported incorrectly

Recommended Posts

This bug is mostly cosmetic but it is a bug anyway. When a channel has HE-AAC v2 audio track the DVB Source shows the sampling rate as 24 kHz even though it really is 48 kHz as reported by the renderer and decoder.

This bug is no bug. You are not informed about spectral band replication (SBR), that's all (well, may happen to everybody... :)). Simplified: It's a method for enhancing compression by halving the samplerate. The original samplerate is reconstructed by the decoder (which means the high frequencies are created synthetically). So it depends on whether the samplerate is determined before or after decoding. Of course the DVBViewer Filter as source filter sees the samplerate before decoding, because it reads the headers of the compressed data.
