a) You need to enable the input plugin in the Input -> Inputplugins section of the Options dialog

B) You need to teach DVBViewer what to do in response to remote control activity - see the "Learn" button? (Input section of the Options dialog)

FWIW, the MCE 2005 remote control works just marvelously over here.

It's a shame that we can't have context dependent button events.

What I mean is.

Once you have assigned the MCE "OK" button to the OSD-ok function, then you can't have the OK button act as anything other than that.

Ex. when I did my Uice DVBViewer programming (with ATI remote wonder), I did this so I could have various functions on the same button depending on in which context DVBViewer currently is in.

My uice'd ATI rem. wonder "OK" button has 2 functions:

1) In normal channel display context mode my OK button triggers the EPG-OSD menu.

2) In OSD context mode my OK button triggers the OSD-select action.

This way you don't run out of buttons too soon. And it also has the extra bonus of being a bit more wife friendly I think.

I know this part is a feature request.

Maybe it would be wise to take full use of the groups in the input options dialogue.

Each group has it's own keys where I don't get the "reassign the event" message when using the same key but in a different group.

Or maybe assign a context to each group.

ex.

MyOSDGroup assigned to OSD context.

OSD ok keyb. spacebar

MyChannelsGroup assigned to Channel context

EPG menu keyb. spacebar

I know this gives more sense when talking about a limited remote control.

The keyboard has a lot of keys to choose from.

I agree.

It's probably hard to configure, but very helpful.

I got used to the handling of the Neutrino/Linux firmware in my DBox II. There I have a lot of context dependent button events. E.g. pressing ? once shows a mini EPG (i.e. name of the movie and running time). While the mini EPG is showing (it disappears after a while) pressing ? a second time show the full EPG of the movie.

I would be happy, if this would be possible with some COM scripting. Maybe Lars could give us some advice.
