[3.5.0.121 + 2.8.2.2] No Sound on certain radio stations + encrypted c

I'm having problems with a few radio-stations. For some reason, DVBViewer cannot connect to the audio-stream properly (DVBSource --> Audio State: No Data / Connected). Most channels in the stream play fine, but a few (Slam! FM, RTL FM, Q-Music) just completely refuse. I checked with Transedit:

* No missing packets.

* Audio streams for the radio-stations are there, and receiving an amount of data which is consistent with other channels that do play.

* Channels have the proper encrypted-flag. One channel that doesn't play is FTA, the other are encrypted. All set properly. For the FTA-channel, preview in Transedit doesn't work either.

* Used Transedit to make sure DVBViewer had all the proper ID's for the channels (Select All --> Update in DVBViewer), but does not make a difference.

When I was looking into this, I noticed two peculiar things:

When in Transedit I tried to preview a stream, the number of missing packets jumped up from 0 to a one or two digit number. First, I don't understand why this should happen, since the stream I tried to preview was FTA and the channel/transponder was already tuned. But more interesting was the distribution of the missing packets. It seemed completely unrelated to the data-rate of various streams (infact, the most missing packets were for a PMT-stream which uses only 0.04% of the transponder) and the number of missing packets for the Null and TOT packets remained zero (though that does make some sense).

The second odd thing was, that some audio and video streams were "blinking" red/black (encrypted/FTA), while they should just be red (they are encrypted). Transedit also recognizes them as encrypted when I scan for channels. However, I can imagine that this may still lead to some odd problems. The blinking is both is irregular and channels are mostly red, but are sometimes black for well over a second.

Another bump. DVBViewer Pro 3.6.4.2 + DVBSource 2.8.5.2 + Twinhan Mantis 1.0.5.8 driver.

Did some more digging and recorded radio-stations can be played back in Media Player Classic, but not in other software (at least, not in ones I have on my PC). So it seems a DVBSource issue (it says connected, but no data, while there is data which can be recorded and played back).

I've recorded TS-streams of working and non-working stations on the same transponder, so if a dev wants to look into this further, let me know. one thing that strikes me is that for the radio-station that does not play, the filter properties for the ts-recording in MPC shows:

Service 18052

A: PID 64 [undetermined]

No subtitles

whereas the filter properties for the ts recording for a radio stations that does play in DVBViewer it shows:

Your postings seem very confusing to me :P

Take transedit and record 20-30mMB with all pids (ctr/A) and upload this file somewhere into the web..

It confuses me too :-) I was hoping someone with more knowledge of the matter could make sense of it. The only thing I see that there is something different between the radio-stations that play and the ones that don't. Looking at it a second time, I think the stations that don't play might use VBR instead of CBR.

In any case, I will record a full ts of the transponder of 20-30MB.

The slam_ fm_stream is ok but the pcr is missing. In the pmt 0x1fff is indicated as pcr_pid. Ask you provider to correct this error. But the pcr is not absolutely necessary for playing on a pc.

Ok, thanx! Sorry to have bugged you in that case :-( As for asking my provider... there is hardly a way to get in touch with the tech or get a message across support like this.

[edit]BTW: I doublechecked everything and now see the PCR PID as being the null stream (sorry, not that into DVB). BUT, the other channels that don't play (3) do have a valid PCR ID's. I also changed the value of the PCR ID of Slam FM, but that doesn't make a difference. After doing some digging, I noticed that apparently there are some broadcaster that do not put PCR's in the stream. MPC does play such files, VLC does not (on purpose, since it doesn't comply with specs). TSRemux confirms this. The streams that do not play have no PCR's[/edit]
