Filme laufen super, alles OK. Aber sobald ne Fussball Übertragung beginnt

habe ich kleine Ruckler in unregelmässigen Abständen (alle 2-5 Sekunden).

Jemand vielleicht einen Tipp ?

Probably VMR9?

In VMR9 it seems to be fluent at first look. But if you watch long enough you can recognize little and sometimes heavier stuttering in video image.

Most obvious when fast camera moving is used like in football. Use VMR7, overlay or system default video renderer. I use ATI HD2600 XT graphics card.

Do you see difference in behavior by using a different video renderer?

Hallo, noxx !

in Ordnung.

Please let me know the results if you really will test the new Nvidia 9600GT graphics card.

I also had in mind to go for this one from Nvidia instead of ATI in the hope VMR should be better with Nvidia.

@noxx

I also use a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3 motherboard with latest bios F13a.

OS=windows XP PRO SP2

Tuner=Technotrend S2-3200 + FloppyDTV-S2

I have to make clear that stuttering only appears in VMR9 in my Windows XP configuration and the Cyberlink H.264 decoder (PowerDVD 7.3 ultra + latest patch).

It is very little, but obvious by fast camera moving and seems to grow in time.

Using different decoder without DXVA (elecard AVC decoder, CoreAVC) this is not the case.

So it could be possibly a combination ATI + hardware + software issue.

thx for your answer. but i need DXVA in combination with my CPU. i hope CoreAVC support in the Future DXVA. perhaps this can

solve my problem.

Ich benutze 720p, also 50Hz...

(Hast Du vsync "always on"?, so heisst es zumindest beim ATI Treiber...)

Also verzögert sich mein Test...

Uwe

Thanks, Noxx.

I know does registry tweaks, but don't use them at the moment.

I thought there are some specific registry tweaks or settings for VSYNC which is mentioned some posts before.

Hi !

You will find the vsync slider under 3D settings->allsettings (or more settings) nearly at the end (you have to downscroll) without any registry tweak.

First results with the 9600GT:

In general the 9600GT delivers no better picture quality than the 2600pro.

With soccer on premiereHD I do not have the seconds-long microstuttering I faced with the 2600pro, but still not a fully smooth picture.

I still have a small jump in the video after some seconds.

I will play around some days with this card to look for improvement.

From my point of view the ATI drivers give you much more freedom to choose i.e. your deinterlacing mode.

I did not find this settings in the Nvidia Driver until now...

Hi, Maier2505.

Strange that some 3D settings also can be used for 2D behavior. I didn't know.

I'll check it later this evening.

I also have execute again the regtweaks for ATI.

The little and sometimes bigger stuttering (jitter) in HD video in VMR9 is not gone.

In OVERLAY this doesn't happen and hardware accelaration has even a much bigger effect. (2% - 5% CPU load)

I almost can't believe HTPC users can get a totally fluent HD image in VMR9 with ATI graphic card HD2xxx or HD3xxx and DXVA. Maybe those HD3xxx are better in VMR9.

It's sad to hear that Nvidia 9600GT is not the big solution for VMR9 HD image.

Thanks for the report.

As I already wrote , my main test environment is Vista / EVR, not VMR9.

Totally deinstalling cyberlink PDVD and a new install braught a slightly better behaviour concerning stuttering.

But I need to cross check at the weekend against the 2600pro concerning the picture quality.

The only clear advantage of the 9600GT is the real HDMI port.

My beamer is now under Vista known as a 1080p device, with 2600pro and the ATI DVI/HDMI converter, it is only 1080i:-)

Hi maier2505,

Have you some more news and test results about the Nvidia 9600GT? Which brand do you have?

In the mean time new catalyst 8.4 is out.

I've installed it. VMR is not bad, but still not totally fluent image. Most obvious in demo ASTRA HD+ in the scene of the "Polar Flight". At a given time camera image is from one side of the plane when this plane is going up. I can't get this as fluent in VMR9 as in Overlay with ATI 2600XT + catalyst 8.4 or before.

In my opinion overlay is now even better. More sharpness than before (most obvious in SD) without image that becomes overwhelmed or too pixelerated.

I think I will stay by ATI and use Overlay.

One more question: doesn't ATI 2600XT output 1080p?

Hi !

Meanwhile I have some more testing with the 9600GT, it is an xpertvision sonic 512Mb.

I got totally fluent HD soccer content with XP/overlay. But this was possible with the 2600pro, too.

Downside of Nvidia is, that they do not provide a "Theater" Mode with Video on both screens in Dual view Mode.

Now Vista:

Advantage of Nividia is, that through the real HDMI Port my beamer is recognized the right way and 1080p,i and 720p are provided by standard.

Best reproduction is EVR single monitor, there I have meanwhile over DVBViewer a very fluent Video reproduction.

But I still have at HDsoccer after 10 min a short time frame where I have a shattering in the picture.

I will now try whether this last thing disappears with PDVD8 Deluxe...

In general the picture Quality of the Nvidia is not better than 2600pro.

Due to the dynamic Contrast enhancement and colour intensivation the picture tends to be overcoloured and overcontrasted, which I pull manually back.

But for sure, we are talking on a very high level of picture quality.

But I am still unsure if ATIs vector adaptive deinterlacing would produce a slightly better quality on fast moving (HD soccer) objects than NVIDIAs motion adaptive...

I am still not finished.

Best regards
