EPG in ISO/IEC 6937

The problem is that most of this characters are not available in the regular ascii charset and can not be displayed properly.

I personally dont see a big problem in things like hrubě <-> hrube.

Can't use extended ascii?

For example in polish there are some missing chars.

This text should be:

magazyn reporterów. Reporterzy pokazują życiowe problemy zwykłych ludzi, którzy próbują sobie radzić z rzeczywistością.

It would be OK for 'o' instead of 'ó', but there isn't any char in it's place.

But some chars like 'ą' are displayed good. 'ą' isn't in ascii table.

Some worlds are unreadable.

This issue I described here: http://www.DVBViewer.info/forum/index.php?showtopic=26766

Problem is you don't see hrube with ISO/IEC 6937 now, because first byte first byte "non spacing diacritical mark" character is not trimmed, you will see hrubĎe, which is really bad when you have this in every other word. hrubě would be optimal, hrube fine (with first byte character trimmed)

Current state in DVBViewer makes EPG streams in ISO/IEC 6937 quite uncomfortable to read.

Lets explain this a bit more in detail:

The "ring" thing stands for the rest of the whole problem:

Å Å® å ů

While Å can be found on swedish and finnish language, the Å® for example in other eastern europe languages (e.g. czech). Both are listed in code table 0xCA, but instead of an Å you have a different sign listed while using EASTEUROPE_CHARSET. The same is for the Å® in other charsets. Anyway i implemented something in the hope to get almost rid of the problem since its pretty unlikely that both characters are used in a language which does not contain this character in a regular way.

If you want to know how the code pages are look alike:

0xC1 'AEIOUaeiou' => 'ÀÈÌÒÙàèìòù'
0xC2 'ACEILNORSUYZaceilnorsuyz' => 'ÁÆÉÍÅÑÓÀÅ’ÚÝáæéíåñóàÅ“úýŸ'
0xC3 'ACEGHIJOSUWYaceghijosuwy' => 'ÂCÊGHÎJÔSÛWYâcêghîjôsûwy'
0xC4 'AINOUainou' => 'ÃIÑÕUãiñõu'
0xC5 'AEIOUaeiou' => 'ÂÇÎÔÛâçîôû'
0xC6 'AGUagu' => 'ÃÐUãðu'
0xC7 'CEGIZcegiz' => 'CËGI¯cegi¿'
0xC8 'AEIOUYaeiouy' => 'ÄËÏÖÜŸäëïöüÿ'
0xCA 'AUau' => 'ÅÙåù'
0xCB 'CGKLNRSTcgklnrst' => 'ÇGKLNRSTçgklnrst'
0xCD 'OUou' => 'ÕÛõü'
0xCE 'AEIUaeiu' => 'ÀÆÁØàæáø'
0xCD 'CDELNRSTZcdelnrstz' => 'ÈÏÌLÒØŠŽèdìlòøÅ¡tž'

Christian

PS: Dont wonder why the characters are not displayed correctly in here - it is because your browser probably likes Unicode more.

Just tried the last beta (3.9.4.25) - it seems fine :)

Thanks a lot for fixing.

What do I need to set for fixed Czech characters in EPG? It's not working here in 3.9.4.25, I thought it wasn't implemented yet.

I'm running 3.9.4.40 - still no luck. Is there any impact by choosing EPG Language?

I am having the same problem with the Pro version, Czech language in the EPG is not correct. As far as somebody above told it is in beta okay, where can I download the betas? I have downloaded only the standard 3.9.4.0 from the link?

I have forgotten that I have added the behaviour a week ago to the following post, but I think it is what you have described here, except the graphic problems.

Maybe another interesting aspect to that theme. Although all three multiplexes sent in the Czech rep. should be coded in ISO 6937 (based upon official info), I see a great difference in the EPG window for the CDG Multiplex 3 (Noe, Public TV, Ocko) to the other ones. I

have asked CDG technical support and I have got the information which can be interesting and a reason, why DVBViewer reacts different for the same coded EPGs. They told, that the norm allows to describe the language description by code CZE or CES. The Czech TV multiplexes use description CZE but the CDG uses CES. Because lots of setoppboxes ingnore this second allowed description, they have problems with recognizing and displaying the right EPG language. Is not this a similar problem why there are differences, although the norm is (or should be) the same?

Regards,

Zetka.

Attached is the view, the left three are CDG and the right are Czech TV. On the left three there is the effect of inserting a wrong char before the punctuated char, on the second one it is partially correct, but errors are there (for example missing r with hook, inserted char before i with "line")...

It‘s possible to solve this problem by changing font type. It works only for OSD because there is no option in DVBViewer to change font type for EPG. (except of details EPG sub-window by right click). Steps are as bellow:

1) Download font file from this link: http://www.tvfreak.cz/forum/showthread.php...1419&page=3

I recommended tahoma epg because it has only one wrong character (D with wedge is interpreted only as wedge)

2) Install this font as described here:

http://www.dvbdream.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=811

3) Edit file fonts.xml in Skin directory and replace font by Tahoma EPG (there is also possible to change font size).

I also tied change all of ”font types” I found in other files (setup.xml…) but with no luck. Font type except one mentioned above in first paragraph are probably hardcoded. I am going to ask authors EPGplus http://home.arcor.de/stefanbn/EPGplus/ to do font change in this great utility.

I'm running DVBViewer v4.0 and have problem polish epg display via osd.

1) EPG from Polsat platform:

My OSD EPG shot:

http://progs.ask.net.pl/dvb2polsat.jpg

OSD EPG show wrong polish char:

ą show +-

ś show pilcrow

and maybe ź show is L with carron

I used FontCreator and remapping font and add ą,ś,ź key code.

http://progs.ask.net.pl/dvb3polsat.jpg

EPG look's great and all chars show is OK.

2) EPG from CYFRA+ platform

My OSD EPG shot:

http://progs.ask.net.pl/dvb1.jpg

polish national char is: ąęśćżźńół or big ĄĘŚĆŻŹŃÓŁ

OSD EPG show wrong polish char:

ł is show r with carron

Ł is show c with carron

ą is show r with acute

ę is show ć is a polish national char this wrong :D

I used FontCreator and remapping font Arial and change ł,Ł,ą

http://progs.ask.net.pl/dvb4.jpg

Epg is show OK but I have a problem remap with char "ę" becouse DVBViewer wrong decoded this char and show "ć". On the photo dvb1,dvb2 indicated in red char "ę" is show is "ć" and on the photo dvb2 indicated in green char "ć" show is "ć" OK. Char "ć" is a polish national char and don't change remap in font file. Maybe DVBViewer decoded "ę" to another char code ? If DVBViewer will be decode this character to another then osd look as well as OSD polsat platform.
