Dahl
Hello I am a very pleased user of DVBViewer. A question is DVBViewer capable of using this CAM Aston Viaccess Dual Professional CAM http://www.satonline.co.uk/shop/products.php?p=d4c353 ? I currently have one TT-connect CT-3650 CI, so can i use this CAM to record one encrypted channel and watch another encrypted/free to air channel? Kind Regards Morten Dahl Quote Link to comment
Derrick
The DVBViewer doesn't support multichannel decryption. Besides it seems very expensive Quote Link to comment
majstang
A question is DVBViewer capable of using this CAM Aston Viaccess Dual Professional CAM http://www.satonline.co.uk/shop/products.php?p=d4c353 ? Wow, that was a cool gadget DVBViewer support for this thing (multichannel decryption) would mean scrapping the unstable and completly useless alternative solutions for the same function we have today.... The DVBViewer doesn't support multichannel decryption. Besides it seems very expensive Well, not that expensive when taking into account what a good alternative would cost. Would there be any chance you taking this into consideration adding support for multichannel decryption CAMs? Edited January 10, 2010 by majstang Quote Link to comment
Tjod
There was a MultiChannel decryption test in BETA 3.6.3.0. http://www.DVBViewer.info/forum/index.php?showtopic=18924 But the support was drop during the Beta Test because of some problems which can not be solved in DVBViewer. 1) Each time a new channel is add all decrypted channels got discontinuities. 2) And (most?) CAM only support a limited number of PID. But how many PID need to be decrypt is different from time to time (second Audio, Subtitle etc.) so some times may be three channels work and the second time you get only audio from the third channel. Thanks for this info, Tjod! If it cant be done with DVBViewer what do you think will be needed to get it working with DVB softwares in general (what is the missing key here)? If a digital-TV box can do it why not DVB software? Edited January 10, 2010 by majstang Quote Link to comment
Tjod
If it cant be done with DVBViewer what do you think will be needed to get it working with DVB softwares in general? 1) is may be possible to solve via driver, TV card or CI/CAM. But if it is only by one or two TV cards OK. It will cause hundreds of bug reports from users with different TV cards. 2) You need to test all Supported CAMa (how many PIDs are they able to decode) and make sure that user can only use CAMs which at are able to decode all PIDs from tow channels. In a digital-TV box it is possible because thy have direct access to the CAM an can disable the function if the wrong cam is used. With DVB software it is not relay possible (at least if you support a wide range of TV cards and don't like errors in recordings). Quote Link to comment

Lets hope that dual tuner manufactures come up with good drivers pretty soon then, so we can have some very reliable solution at hand. Quote Link to comment
