entrecour
Would it be possible for DVBViewer to support CEC so that channel change etc in DVBViewer could be controlled via HDMI / CEC codes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#CEC Quote Link to comment
Lars_MQ
Does your graphic card support this? and if yes, is there an api to use? I doubt it is possible. Quote Link to comment
entrecour
My motherboard is based on Intel H55 which has inbuilt graphics and HD audio. I had a quick look at the datasheet and CEC is referred to in section 5.27.2.6. Here is the datasheet http://www.intel.com/Assets/PDF/datasheet/322169.pdf I don't know if there is an api. I thought CEC was part of HDMI 1.3 so it should be supported IMHO by the Intel HDMI driver. I don't have anyway to test CEC though, unless I can find another application that supports it. entrecour
Here is some more info on CEC http://www.hdmi.org/pdf/whitepaper/DesigningCECintoYourNextHDMIProduct.pdf Quote Link to comment
Tjod
This are general informations for hardware company. But you need a interface from the graphic card to access CEC. So you can ask Intel if there is a api for it. The only information I found where about external solutions which bypass the graphic card: http://rainshadowtech.com/default_files/HDMICECUSB.htm http://code.google.com/p/cec-arduino/ Quote Link to comment
entrecour
I have contacted Intel - my query is being past to one of the engineers. Let's see if they answer. Quote Link to comment
r_s
Hello guys, I see that the CEC USB adapters are available at: http://blog.pulse-eight.com/ http://rainshadowtech.com/default_files/HDMICECUSB.htm It should be feasible to implement it in DVBViever since XBMC supports it http://blog.pulse-eight.com/2011/09/08/see-our-usb-cec-adapter-in-action/ entrecour, do you have any update from Intel (I hope you read this ) Edited January 23, 2012 by r_s Quote Link to comment
entrecour
I contacted Intel several times in 2010 but received no useful answers. Perhaps they might be more helpful now - you can contact them via the Intel support forum. Edited January 24, 2012 by entrecour Quote Link to comment
r_s
OK, looks like there is no support from graphics manufacturers. But there is a library developed by Pulse-Eight http://libcec.pulse-eight.com/ with Windows, OSX and Linux support. update: Pulse-Eight is going to release a plugin for EventGhost next month or so... r_s
Does your graphic card support this? and if yes, is there an api to use? I doubt it is possible. It is possible http://www.anandtech.com/show/5463/pulseeight-usb-cec-adapter-review Support for the USB CEC adapter is currently available to the public only through XBMC Eden. However, Pulse-Eight indicated that Windows Media Center, Event Ghost and MediaPortal would also be able to take advantage of the USB CEC adapter by the end of February along with support for wake from standby through the adapter.
