How cable tuning by a TV set differs from tuning by DVBViewer?

This forum seems more appropriate for the follow up of the problem described earlier here: http://www.DVBViewer.tv/forum/topic/53189-strange-problems-with-cable-upc-poland-warszawa/.

The tuning instruction, described in my previous post referenced above, works not only for the large number of the officially supported TV sets (specified at http://aplikacje.upc.pl/ci-module/?type=analog) but also for my own Philips_32PFL5007K not listed there.

The crucial difference seems to be the fact that TV sets use the provider name and the network identifier, and the specific frequency 210 MHz . Do I guess correctly that a TV sets uses it to download a kind of table with more details of the available channels? If so, can this data be downloaded somehow by available software?

..possible, DVBViewer doesn't use all available tables. Though if you use a network search in transedit, all channels should be found.
