Since BBC4 HD has started I've discovered a change in the SD-version. Many good old (music) documentaries used to be transmitted with their original aspect ratio 4:3. Now apparently everything is 16:9 with the dreadful pillar screen for 4:3 material. HD is native 16:9 but for SD this means less quality cos part of the 720 dot horizontal resolution is wasted :(
