Recommended DVB-T Card for UK

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've been a Pro user for some time (since upgrading to Windows 10 and loosing Windows Media Centre!) and I managed to get an old KWorld DVB-T 395U working fine with DVBViewer for around a year - not sure how I did it - I think it more or less just worked straight away.

I upgraded my PC this week with a new processor/motherboard/RAM but now can't get DVBViewer working with the 395U. MY new rig is a Ryzen 7 1700 with 16GB RAM on an ASUS B350 PRIME PLUS motherboard which supports USB v2, v3 and v3.1. Windows 10 says the driver is installed and the device is working correctly. The stick is recognised in DVBViewer Hardware as a 'AF9015 BDA Filter' (as it was before the upgrade) but now if I scan for channels, PAT turns yellow and then a few seconds later I get an almost instant BSOD. I have wasted 1 day of my life trying to get this to work so am now throwing in the towel and I'm going to buy a new reliable DVB-T solution ... I obviously don't want to buy another unreliable/unsupported heap of junk/time sink ... so I'd be grateful if anyone out there can recommend a supported USB Digital TV stick with High Definition that will work in the UK for terrestrial TV (FreeView) on Windows 10 Pro 64.

Many thanks for reading this far!

You could try an August USB-DVB-T2 Receiver. August ist an english enterprise (look: http://www.augustint.com/en/index.html). I've bought an august  DVB-T 210 Stick (http://www.augustint.com/en/productmsg-34-55.html) at Amazon. It works with DVB-T2 HD in Germany fine and I think it works with the english DVB-T2 too. I've tried it with Windows 10 64-Bit. But DVBViewer ist 32-Bit Software! So you need the LAV-Filters for 64-Bit and (!) for 32-Bit for using it with DVBViewer.

Many greetings

USB Models that i have tested as working ok in the UK (N.W.London) with DVBViewer:

1. AVerMedia 61H831HBF0AB AVerTV Hybrid Volar T2 Tuner Card for PC  (amazon uk)

2. Astrometa DVB-T/T2/C+FM+DAB (white cover with grey+blue lettering)

3. PEAK-DVB-T-DIGITAL-STICK-203244AGPK

I bought the Avermedia usb recently and it was a bit more expensive than the others but it also comes with a great mini aerial which i am using instead of a

main house aerial which you normally need for most of these usb sticks ,,first mini aerial i used that actually works.

P.S:

Sometimes it's worth researching the chips that they use as a lot of the usb sticks out there have the same chips inside  and it's just the cover that makes them look different ,not all of them but a fair few are like that.
