Indication of HbbTV - but no HbbTV?

Recommended Posts

If I tune into Rai News 24 @Astra 11288V I get the "red indication" that there is a HbbTV content.

But when I enable HbbTV there is no HbbTV. Same thing with SRF Info @ HB 13E. Several other channels are OK with HbbTV.

This channel (SRF Info) worked previously with HbbTV. I don't know if the terrestrial channel SvT broadcast HbbTV or not. But I get the same indication on this channel.
See picture:

I tried debug mode, with same result. But where can I 'see' what went wrong?

I noticed the following:
All German channels (ARD, ZDF an so on) works fine with HbbTV. Also tve Internacional works fine.
If I tune to SRF info there is no result if I press F5 in HbbTV mode. If I then tune to ZDF the HbbTv does not appear. If I restart DVBViwer the HbbTV works normal on ZDF.

In the Debug mode you will see more information in the DVBViewer.log file. This is located in your DVBViewer settings folder. There is for example the url of the HbbTV content listed.

The problem you mention might be caused by an exception raised by the web browser. Certain hbbtv providers need a certificate in order to open their page.

Thanks, if you open the App you receive an error message:

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot assign to read only property '__esModule' of #<Object>

Not sure if i can find a "work" around, but SRF should be fix this, since the issue will appear on almost every chrome based browser.

Hmm are you sure that SVT1 does have HbbTV content?

I debugged their website and the complete hbbtv app looks like this:

// Config
var LOG_URL = "http://hbbtv.play.svt.se/device_infos/log";
var XHR_DONE = 4;

window.onload = function onload() {
  // add listener
  // document.addEventListener("keydown", Handlekey, false);

  if ( SVTLogged.isLogged() ) {
    return;
  }

  /// ApplicationManager
  var appmgr = document.getElementById('appmgr');

  if ( !appmgr || !appmgr.getOwnerApplication ) {
    return;
  }

  /// Configuration
  var appcfg = document.getElementById('oipfcfg');

  if ( !appcfg || !appcfg.configuration ) {
    return;
  }

  /// Activation
  try {
    var app = appmgr.getOwnerApplication(document);

    if (!app) {
      return;
    }
  } catch (e) {
    return;
  }

  logHbbTV();
};

function logHbbTV() {
  var xhr = new XMLHttpRequest();
  xhr.open("GET", LOG_URL + '?survey=ping');
  xhr.onreadystatechange = function() {
    if(xhr.readyState === XHR_DONE && xhr.status === 200) {
      SVTLogged.setLogged();
    }
  };
  xhr.send();
}

This is nothing more than requesting the application manager (which is an hbbtv object) and to log the device information. I assume they try to collect the user agents in order to figure out which of them should be allowed in order to get their context in the near future.

What you might check is the AIT information in the log file. You should also get different Links which are stored in this table.

Or silently tracking data about current viewers (count etc.). If I remember correctly even ARTE did this at first when HbbTV started, a "ping" to the server every few seconds, but stopped it after protest.

No, as I wrote in the top post, I don't know if there is any HbbTV content. I just noticed the indication of HbbTV on these channels (SvT1 and SvT2). Which were not present 'before'.

I don't have the skill to debug the website.

But I do know that SRF info had HbbTV content, which worked fine:

Yes I know ich the SRF page, resp. I remember it. As i said SRF Info raises an exception in the javascript. Not sure if it is a problem of the WebKit version i use. I honestly did not found time to patch it around, but there is a fully fledged JavaScript debugger inside the DVBViewer which can be used to find issues like this and the HbbTV.xml to inject a patch. I will try to solve this SRF Info problem  some day. :wub:

Sehr geehrter Herr Hackbart

Danke

Is there any progress on this issue?

 My German is not 'up to date', but I believe the next post is from a user in Switzerland and that his HbbTV works fine on a standard TV-set.

 I can confirm that HbbTV works just fine on my 4k-TV from SRF and RSI and RTS, but not on on DVBViewer.

Seit dem Update DVBViewer 6.1.6.1 funktioniert HbbTV nun perfekt mit den Schweizer TV Sendern SRF.

Danke an Herr Hackbart für die Fehlerkorrektur.
