Playing IPTV links with no file extension

Hi,

 

My IPTV provider has started using links with no file extension:

 

https://server.com:port/username/password/12345

 

and so DVBViewer will not play the stream since it doesn't know what kind of stream it is.

 

Is there way to get the DMS to assign a stream type to a stream without an extension? Also, since doesn't know what type of file it is, it obviously won't give me the the option of removing timecode reference and ignoring discontinuities.

 

VLC is coping with it so the stream is working, but I can't set timers on VLC!!

Playlist file type is m3u8, but as for whether it is m3u8 or TS, i'm not sure how I know since there is no file extension! How do I find out? Before they stopped using the extension it was .ts.

Usually DVBViewer should be able to find out automatically what type it is, provided the server sets up the "mime type" in the HTTP header correctly. However, if it doesn't, you can help DVBViewer by replacing http:// in the URL by a format identifier. The one for a transport stream is ts://, and the one for the Apple HLS format (that usually comes with an .m3u8 URL extension) is hls://

 

So, for example, you can try

 

 ts://server.com:port/username/password/12345

 

Internally DVBViewer replaces ts:// by http:// again, after it has understood that a transport stream is expected.
