New Router - Now I can't find the server

Hi All,

 

I changed broadband supplier and so got a new router. I did the usual ports opening and my server is working fine outside of the home network, and all scheduled recordings are happening correctly. None of the computers changed. I have made sure that the server has maintained it's correct IP address. I can access the devices through the web interface both internally and externally, but when I run the DVBViewer software, it gives me the "No Available Hardware" error.

 

However, inside the home network, I can't "discover" the server on the Options -> DVBViewer Media Server -> "Select a Media Server" on the dropdown menu. The address and ports are correct, and when I push the "Test Connection" button, it shows a successful test - but I still can't tune in any live channels. The virtual devices have the correct IP address too.

 

On the server host machine, it works if the IP address is set to local host but not to the PC's IP address.

 

My initial thought was that there might be PC ports issues so I did the server update, but that did not fix the problem. I can't see how a change of router can have caused this problem, since it is on the internal network. Nothing else on the network seems to be broken, and everything is connected via ethernet cables.

 

I bet it is something really obvious, but I can't think of anything now. Any ideas?

Every time you change your router (by MAC address) Windows asks you only once which type of network is it. Win7 shows a dialog about home network, company network, public network. Win10 has only a small notification on the top right asking if this network should be allowed to use shared things on your pc (or similar) and this notification disappears if you ignore it too long. If you don't answer this questions correctly (Win7: home or company network, Win10: yes) the network is set to public. So your devices are treated as untrusted devices (like being together with foreign people on a public wifi network). And the Windows firewall blocks most things for security.

 

Your support.zip - Systeminfo says "public firewall active" so it happened to you. You have to change your Windows network setting from public to private network. If DVBViewer and Media Server are on different computers, all of them need to be on private network setting in your home network. Thank You!! I remember seeing the network message on the HTPC (and setting it correctly) but obviously missed it on the server. It's the kind of thing you could search for hours for and not notice, but I knew that someone on here would recognise the symptom!
