Machito
Hello, I have used DVBViewer software with my Pinnacle PCTV NanoStick for years, but now I decided to buy some new hardware that supports DVB-T2. This new USB stick is "Alma mini TV" and and it is very similar to "Freenet TV Stick" - maybe almost identical. But DVBViewer doesn't recognize it. Is there any chance to add support in future versions? This Alma mini TV stick uses libusb driver and SMiTPayTVPlayer. Thanks in advance! Tomas Machalek Quote Link to comment
Machito
The original software "ALMA miniTV Player" can be downloaded here: http://data.inter-sat.cz:81/ke_stazeni/Alma/ALMAminiTV/SW170119/SMiTPayTVPlayer.exe - it is modified version of "freenet TV Player". Without teletext, timeshift, recording, advanced EPG... It has only basic functions. It would be amazing to use DVBViewer with this little USB stick to extend its functionality. Whereas the Freenet Stick is officially supported https://www.DVBViewer.tv/forum/topic/59477-freenet-tv-usb-stick/ https://www.DVBViewer.tv/forum/topic/61655-freenet-tv-stick-im-DVBViewer/ I hope that to add support of this modified version won't be so much difficult... If someone is interested, I had bought my USB stick here: https://www.gmelectronic.com/usb-receiver-dvb-t2-h-265-hvec-alma-minitv Quote Link to comment
hackbart
Well officially supported is not that exact. The SMiT device comes with a WinUSB based driver and the first version was quite self explanatory, so it was possible to create a library which interacts with the driver in order to tune and to receive the data. However quite a few weeks after releasing the DVBViewer with support for these sticks, Freenet provided a firmware update. Which made working with the stick impossible. There are a couple of encrypted communications between driver and firmware vice versa. If you (or google translate) know a bit of german you might check this link: https://www.rundfunkforum.de/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=29210&sid=63bd8583f71b293cdfb2eefda1601ac6&start=105 The author of the dll is quite active there and he also started this thread in the Rundfunkforum. Christian PS: I probably should point out that the temporal distance between the DVBViewer release and the firmware release by Freenet was just coincidence. I also stood in contact with SMiT, but they where unable to provide information about the driver itself, because of NDAs with the companies using the hardware. As you know whenever CI+ comes into play the fun stops in all kind of ways ? Quote Link to comment
Machito
OK, that is not good news, but thank you for the explanation. For now, I will have to be "satisfied" with the SMiT TV Player alias ALMA miniTV Player. But if someone will find out a way how to play TV with this stick in DVBViewer, then please let me know. Mo Mi
Hi Machito. I have same Alma device. I am unable to find any compatible DVBT TV recorder for Alma TV device to be able to record TV. I use ALMA miniTV Player which is only for watching TV, it cannot record TV channels. Did yu find any solution how to record with some other software? Or is its driver unable to record at all? Thanks Quote Link to comment
