DVBViewer.zip

Good day I have these DVB T/C/T2 tuners:

- AVerMedia TD310

- PCTV 291e/461e

- Hauppauge WinTV-soloHD

All worked in receiving DVB-T. But only Hauppauge WinTV-soloHD worked in receiving DVB-C (unencrypted). I need usb sticks AVerMedia TD310, PCTV 291e/461e to work in DVB-C reception as well.

Please help. I use last version of DVBViewer 6.1.1.0 on Win7 64b where I test it.

I can't use supporttool, because it show error "Pro mapovač koncových bodů nejsou k dispozici další koncové body/No other endpoints are available for the endpoint mapper." therefore I only compress all relevant files from folder c:\ProgramData\CMUV\DVBViewer.

Try the latest driver from Hauppauge (that owns PCTV):

http://www.hauppauge.de/files/drivers/hcwembda/install_driver_hcwembda_5_2019_0221_37057.exe

Additionally install an up-to-date DVBViewer version. There was an important fix for your PCTV device concerning DVB-C in version 6.1.6:

“Scan Devices” did not add the SRx1000 entry (read from an updated hardware database) to an already existing DVB-C tuner in the file hardware.xml.

After that, perform Scan devices on Options -> Hardware. If DVB-C still does not work with this device, please zip the file hardware.xml (see configuration folder) and attach it here.

Unfortunatelly not working. Even not working both - DVB-T and DVB-C (before worked DVB-T). I use Win7 sp1 64bits. DVBViewer 6.1.6.9 with latest fix from download area.

I revert drivers for PCTV 291e/461e back (to DriverVer = 12/06/2013, 5.2013.1206.0) and now it working (!) and video is great:

But now I want to solve why video for the same channel in DVB-C for Hauppauge WinTV-soloHD is very bad:

I use last driver version "wintv-solo_dual_quadhd_5_2020_0406_38125.exe" for it.

In DVB-T - video from both tuners is ok.

AVerMedia TD310 in DVB-C still now working.

Was it always like this?

Have a look at the DVBViewer Filter property page. I guess it will show an increasing number of discontinuities. If the reception is ok, it usually means that the driver is losing data. However, this would also affect DVB-T. in case of DVB-C another possible cause is an overdriven tuner because the signal is too strong, thus requiring an attenuator.

Yes it's always like this.  Hauppauge WinTV-soloHD  receiving data from DVB-T channels smoothly without problems, but with unencrypted DVB-C channels has problems.

Both DVB-T and DVB-C channels are in the same cable. I have now three DVB-C tuners and only Hauppauge WinTV-soloHD   has problems. Comparing reception on the same unencrypted channel (in the same cable) in DVB-C today:

CT 4650 CI:

- Signal quality 70% as show it DVBViewer.

- DVBViewer video https://i.imgur.com/6i6asmp.jpg - zero discontinuities: https://i.imgur.com/gXL22x6.png

PCTV 291e/461e:

- Signal quality 56% as show it DVBViewer .

- DVBViewer video https://i.imgur.com/BW5B4zL.jpg - zero discontinuities: https://i.imgur.com/6txhPJy.png

Hauppauge WinTV-soloHD (last driver version 5.2020.406.38125, driver date 4.5.2020 2:00:00)

- Signal quality 66% as show it DVBViewer .

- DVBViewer video https://i.imgur.com/wiqZ3vj.png -  many discontinuities: https://i.imgur.com/oRgI5Uy.png

DVBViewer is the last version 6.1.6.9 with the latest fix from download area.

This can't be influenced in DVBViewer. There is either something unhealthy happening on the driver level, or the signal level is not suitable for the tuner. I would ask a local TV/Radio dealer for a cable signal attenuator (that lowers the signal level) and try if it helps. Such attenuators are not expensive. They only cost a few Euros.

But why the recetion with the other two tuners is without problems? Same channel, same signal source. And reception of DVB-T channels is without problems.

May be I should be to contact Hauppauge about this problem?

Because they are other tuners :)

Yes, maybe. But I've already written what I would try first.

May be for you I will be idiot but I don't see reason for signal attenuator when for all tuners is used the same source.

And why don't working DVB-C with AVerMedia TD310?

I don't know. I have no AverMedia device and I can't receive DVB-C, so there is nothing that I can try myself. My efforts to find out more about it can be read here, but the user reports didn't yield a clear picture of the device behaviour.

DVB-C seems to work in DVBViewer under certain circumstances, see here, but I have no idea what has to be done for it.

Hm, it's sad.

Probably the best tuner (in stisk format) is PCTV 291e/461e  - no problems with DVB-T and DVB-C (under DVBViewer), but is relative expensive.
