Is it possible to add manual ECM selection in channel properties? Some channels are encrypted in 2,3 or even 5 systems. How looks the proper ECM selection by SS1CI?

Link to comment

Well technically the CAM Module "eats" the Program Map Table (PMT) and the Conditional Access Table (CAT) and decides which ecm/emm combination is required for a proper decoding. Yet another selection inside the channel list would be a nightmare - right now i collect the PMT always in background to read things like MHP Pids, DVB Subtitle Pids etc. without asking for.

Hello Christian and everybody, I have not been using DVBViewer for about one year because of HD1 encryption but now that there is support for the SS1 CI and I have one of these cards, I want to try it.

I downloaded DVBViewer V 3.1 today and also the new Twinhan V 2.602 drivers and software. I installed the SS1 CI card and the latest Twinhan drivers, then I installed DVBViewer 3.1 but I am getting no signal. I then installed the Twinhan software (which is very basic) and it works ok so the card and drivers are ok. Is it necessary to have a SS2 card in the system (I don't have one installed at the moment) for DVBViewer to work? I might just be doing something stupid, very tired today. Is there anything I can do to test if the DVBViewer is seeing the SS1 CI card? The symptoms are as if there was no DVB card installed.

Thanks.

Jim.

Just to be sure:

Did you choose the right device in Options DirectX page 'Current Device'?

Everything is working just fine for me :)

So I was doing something stupid, thanks kookoo. It is working perfectly, including HD channels and decrypting HD1 without any problem.

Now that it is working I will have a whole list of questions, like operation of the remote control that came with the SS1 CI and the USALS feature of the card which I need.

Thanks again.

The standard says that the host (DVBViewer) has to send the ca_pmt to the application (module). That makes the module totally dependent from the host concerning the ecms. A ca_descriptor_prefilter could block the unwanted ecms by not sending these descriptors to the module. Only emms are filtered independently by the module (module reads the cat but not the pmt).

About the remote device bundled with the skystar1. I did not installed it, but i guess it's just translates the remote key into keyboard keypresses. Assigning the keys in the keyboard map should solve the problem.

Is there yet way to change the font or size of EPG? I'm using this via tv and composite cable, and the EPG is unreadable(or atleast very hard to read) because of the tv resolution.

I have acquired from little dvb wiever, I wanted to know if the card hauppauge dvb-s nexus is supported? in the case I can obtain the same performances of the ss2? thanks

@paperokk

Nope. The DVB-s Nesus is something completly different. It´s a full featured card.

Only Technisat Skystar 2/Airstar/Cablestar/Skystar 1 CI (Twinhan model) products are supportet at the moment.

Keep in mind that the Skystar 1 CI from Technotrend/Twinhan is something completly different form the Nexus. The Nexus is a Technotrend Skystar 1, and has nothing to do with the Skystar 1 CI :)

So, the cheapest way is to get a Skystar 2 (about 50€, eBay, or the Twinhan Skystar 1 CI, about 90€, eg. www.kmelektronik.de in Germany)

they are in possession of a ss2, I wanted to put the nexus why little works hardware employing the cpu

If you have little CPU power, you can still record while turning of the display, so CPU consumtion will not be a problem anymore.

the epg display can be easily changed with the skineditor located in the members section. Just open the xml's and change the font size.

Hi there,

I just installed 3.1 and the first thing I found was a bug:

the extended exit menu on pressing the powerbutton on the winlirc does not work!

the normal shutdown menu appears but without any description:

menu.jpg

anything else is fine so far

  • 2 weeks later...

I solved it by opening the setup.xml, changed the entry

"ShutdownAction">0</entry> to another value (2 or 3), started and closed the player and then rechanged it to 0. i saved the file and now it works ?

I just got DVBViever Pro and tried it with my TwinhanDTV Mini Cab (downsize version of TwinhanDTV Cab-CI). I can't find any channels (in the Twinhan software channels are fine).

Anyone know why? Could it be that my Mini Cab uses a different chipset from Cab-CI or something? In directx-options "current device" I use "VisionDTV 1 (DVB-C CI)".

I live in Finland.

Thanks.

BR,

Miika

EDIT 1:

OK, I've got it working after I received a ``special´´ version of the executable file from Mr. Hackbart. I also had to check the box ``Free to air only´´ in the channel scan tab..otherwise I could not find any channels.

However, WOW! This is a _great_ piece of software! I think we should persuade Twinhan to buy DVBViewer as a bundled software with their cards!

Twinhan should also consider treating their customers with equal care and support response time I have received with this program..

Hi!

The new version is really great! Have not yet taken a look at all the new feature but from what I have seen so far, I really like it!

I have found one thing that has to be improved. I permanently use the Pan & Scan function in order to kill the black borders around the tv picture. When I start the teletext from the OSD menu its borders are also cut. The same thing happens after switching to another channel. In the upper left corner the tv channel logo is not shown completely.

Hope this will be fixed soon!

Daniel
