Recommended Posts

I have a Medion MD5655 PC that ships with a Medion SAA7134 Hybrid PCI TV Card for DVB-T Support. It includes a BDA Driver.

When I try to scan the Channel List, PAT goes to yellow on the right frequencies but no channel is found.

Same issue with Transedit MMC demo.

I can found the various streams with DVBStreamExplorer.

It works with PowerCinema 4.0, ShowShifter.

Here are the details :

XP SP2 French

Medion SAA7134, Hybrid Capture Device, Driver 1.3.2.6 by Philips

DVBViewer Pro Version 3.2.5.1032 Registred

Settings > DirectX>Current Device : MEDION BDA DVBT Tuner

BDA Config : Terrestrial, Use Tuningspaces : DVB-T

Channellist>Channel Scan>Root=Terrestrial (EUR)

tried with Stepsize set to 6000, 7000 and 8000 without success.

Let me know if there are specific files you would need to be uploaded.

Thanks.

Only one entry, or two?

You can try TransEdit 2.3.4 from the members area, main application section. The BDA implementation is a bit different than the one in TransEdit MMC.

I have only one entry. My SkyStar2 is now on another PC.

Checked with Transedit 2.3.4 : Same results, no channel found.

Just to give some encouragement, I have had the SAA7134 working well with TransEdit 2.3.4, and it's fine with DVBViewer Pro 3.2.5.1032.

I wasn't using that particular Medion BDA driver though. You could try 1.3.1.15h instead if you have no joy.

PM me if you can't find it on the web.

I downgraded my Medion/Philips drivers from 1.3.2.6 to 1.3.1.15h as suggested and rebooted.

Same problem. PowerCinema 4.0 still working OK.

Here is the graph :

No properties available.

The content of the ini's hardware section is ok. So I just don't know...

Additionally you can check if a correct BDA filter graph is built, by using GraphEdit -> Connect to Remote Graph while TransEdit does a complete scan. Post a screenshot here.

Sorry for the delay. I got caught by other problems.

Here is the GraphEdit screencapture when TransEdit 2.3.4 is scanning.

The first block is DVB-T Network Provider. There is no tuning capability available.

I cannot find that one in the list of items that can be inserted in a graph. Instead I can find Microsoft DVB-T Network Provider.

I have built a brand new graph based on that filter that works. I have wrote down each step in a memo I will attach in another message.

Strange. Hardware detection is ok, graph is ok, but TransEdit doesn't receive data. Yellow signals the attempt to read, but no green for success. The frequencies in the Europe.ini are correct, I suppose?

DVB-T Network Provider and Microsoft DVB-T... are identical. Just different names for the same thing. However, it has to be considered that a tuner filter may refer to it by name (it shoudn't do that, but... :rolleyes: ).

I have built a brand new graph based on that filter that works.

What kind of graph? A modified DVBViewer BDA graph (network provider removed and replaced) or the "normal" BDA graph with MS demultiplexer, transport information filter etc. running in GraphEdit without DVBViewer?

Here are all the related files included in the attached zip file.

I have also prepared a tutorial memo with a step by step building of a graph to watch a DVB-T channel. As I am overquota here, it can be downloaded from here :

I started from scratch without any application running by adding filters.

I also looked at the graph built by MediaPortal when scanning. I can post it if you are interested.

I noticed that the frequencies here are not aligned to a MHz. When TransEdit scans, it seems to scan by 0.5 MHZ steps. Here as we have to tune to an odd frequency (610.167 MHz), would it cause a problem ?

Hey, excellent work!

I wonder why this graph plays happily. Usually the Network provider cooperates closely with another filter that is missing in your graph: The transport information filter (TIF). Should be connected to pin 1 of the demuxer. I'll test it tomorrow with my DVB-T device (Cinergy T2). The DVBViewer's (or (TransEdit's) BDA dumper replaces the TIF in some respects.

Try the following: Connect the first three filters (NP and the two from medion), rightclick the output pin of the digital capture -> render pin. That will build the complete graph, and I'm sure the TIF will come in.

Insert the desired decoders (without connecting them) before rendering the pin, if you want them to be used.

However, that doesn't solve the problem. The DVBViewer graph is different. If it would use the standard BDA graph with the MS demuxer, many DVBViewer features wouldn't be available.

I will think about it...

P.S.

I've uploaded TransEdit 2.3.5 with some BDA adjustments to the members area. Dunno if they will do something in your case. The Settings -> Hardware Tab contains a new checkbox "Stop stream while tuning". Try with and without this option.

The NP now appears as "Microsoft DVB-T..." in the TransEdit graph, just in case something wants exactly that.

I have tested the new Transedit 2.3.5. Still no success.

Here is the graph I get when I render the output pin of the MEDION BDA Digital Capture Filter.

When I play it as is after tuning to a frequency, I get a channel video & sound then it crashes in the PSI decoder.

When I remove the second BDA TIF and WST filters, it does not crash.

I also noticed that in the Tuner, I just need to set the frequency (610167 in my case), nothing else, and I get the Direct 8 channel.

Datastream available from this multiplex has been analysed with TSReader and be found hereTNT R2

I will try other things later as my WAF becomes low.

Hi, I'm experimenting with a similar hardware. Alas my dvb-t reception is poor (need a better antenna). The french network ist much better than the dutch Digitenne. At least in france they use normal bitrates, though the resolution is a little bit less compared to dvb-s ;)

I can perform scans with transedit. Everything seems to be working alright.. Though I can't receive french terrestrial transmissions, I know what you`re talking about. Some channels can be received via dvb-s on your Atlantic Bird on 5W ;) The SI is already converted to dvb-t and I can see the incomplete NIT (possibly due to different regional frequencies).

Now I'll watch rugby on France2 :)

In order to get my TNT card working great in France, i used 166mhz offset.

Great, it works perfectly. everything is working including the EPG !

I get 26 channels because I probably get both Orléans Trainou and Bourges transmitters.

That was a simple trick. I raised this odd frequency issue earlier, but didn't update my ini file accordingly !

Thanks for your help. :)

I get 26 channels...

In fact, some channels are listed more than one time as they have more than one Audio PIDs (up to 4 : fre, fre AC3, eng, eng AC3).

I would like to broadcast the stream using DVBServer, but it seems that DVBServer can only tune to a integer value.

I have not found the way to tune to 610.166 MHz which has fixed my earlier problem.

Does DVBServer use an ini file where we could specify the value in kHZ ?

you're right, it's the same for me. And also some scrambled channels (canal+, paris premiere, tps...)

DVBserver DON'T use .ini because it does tune to the frequency told by the client running DVBViewer. :huh:

my setting to stream DVB on LAN:

on the 'computer 1' as the SERVER (with the DVB card indeed):

use DVBserver with default settings, except:

setting->server->streamtype: multicast

setting->multicast->interface: SERVER IP (eg:192.168.0.1)

on the 'computer 2' as the CLIENT use DVDviewer:

-install DVDViewer, copy the .ini

use DVDviewer with default settings, except:

option->directX->DVBdevice: MulticastNetworkDevice

fill in the NetworkSettings:

DVBserver->address: SERVER IP (eg:192.168.0.1)

DVBmulticast->address: CLIENT IP (eg: 192.168.0.2)

-install MPEG2 filter (eg:install powerDVD or a codec pack)

-scan the channels with DVBViewer, (of course DVBServer must run on the computer 1)

btw, don't forget to setup the port in your firewall (computer 1 and 2)

I hope it's helpful :(
