File Format For Recording Service

I;ve been using DVBViewer for a year or so now, and I've found that the files recorded using DVBViewer can also be played on VLC Mediaplayer.

I recently downloaded and started using the DVBViewer recording service (1.5.0.31).

The service works fine but any video recorded using the recording service can only be played on DVBViewer, VLC Mediaplayer can't play it.

Both programs save the file in ts format. I've also tried the .mpg format - same result.

Does anyone have a solution. Have I missed setting something?

VLC Mediaplayer can't play it.

Because VLC has a long running bug. Disable the autoload of subtitles in VLC and it will work.

Is it absolutely sure that it's the fault of VLC Media Player, not DVBViewer Pro?

Has things been improved now?

Yes

It was Fix in one VLC Player Version but reappeared in the next version.

http://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/3547

So the solution is to disable "Autodetect subtitle files" in VLC player.

For a better solution: Dump VLC and get yourself a better mediaplayer. It was always a POS.

I have never understood why people use it. I tried it and quickly moved on.
