aydin1954
Hello I am trying to use DVBVier to stream from a VBox TV Gateway XTi 3352 - DVB-C dual tuner. This because I like the clean interface for DVBViewer Pro and I am also getting Coax turned off where I live so only possibility is through fiber and I choose the VBox and very happy with it. What I am not too happy are the different clients I tried like Kodi and VLC. So I tried several things in DVBVier. I can get the streaming channels but no audio or video. I tried different renderers, I use LAV Filters, tried different ones too but no go. Also if I try UpnP I get the VBox and see the channel list but nothing happens if I click or double click on them. Tried to define as unicast service as said before I get the channel but no audio and video. Anybody has any idea? Thanks. 1 Quote Link to comment
Tjod
Getting the channels in DVBViewer channel list is currently only possible if this is a Sat>IP Server (RTSP device). But as fare as I can see it is not. The Unicast device is an old proprietary format which only works to stream from the Recording Service to the DVBViewer. The DVBViewer has basic UPnP support (Playback > Open UPnP .. /OSD menu > htpcHome > UPnP) but you should not expect much out of this. Or you can open a play list file like any other multimedia file. The DVBViewer GE has support for TS stream. But the documentation for the DVBViewer GE and this feature is only in German. http://www.DVBViewer.tv/forum/topic/56131-internet-tv-mit-dem-DVBViewer-ge-36/ (there are plans to add this to the DVBViewer Pro but no schedule and not for the next version) Quote Link to comment
aydin1954
Hello and thanks for your reply. And yes DVBViewer GE is a step in the right direction but not there yet quite. By the way German is no problem I speak it and read it well just my writing sucks.... LOL. Now I exported a m3u file from VBox and dragged it and dropped it in the channel list window. but it all lands in the wrong (audio) category. The m3u looks like: #EXTM3U#EXTINF:-1, SRF 1 HDhttp://192.168.1.26:55555/SRF%201%20HDetc... and at times it works for one channel or not and even if then if you switch or leave and restart the program it just freezes. Interessantly I am also experimenting with a Fritz!Repeater DVB-C and its m3u looks like: #EXTM3U#EXTINF:-1,SRF 1 HD#EXTVLCOPT:network-caching=1000rtsp://192.168.1.32:554/?freq=306&bw=8&msys=dvbc&mtype=256qam&sr=6900&specinv=1&pids=0,16,17,18,20,501,502,503,504,505,507,508,5080 etc... and it works just fine by landing in the correct category and everything else: Now if you have any idea how I can also get the VBox to work.... thanks. Tjod
Are you able to open the VBox stream in the TransEdit 4.1 analyser http://www.DVBViewer.tv/forum/topic/2745-transedit/?p=424382 Quote Link to comment
aydin1954
Thanks again for your help and pointing me in the right direction. I was using the last release version of TransEdit and getting nowhere.... with 4.1 I was able to open it, save it as .ini file then drag and drop it on the DVBViewer Channel list and it works! Griga
Now I exported a m3u file from VBox and dragged it and dropped it in the channel list window. but it all lands in the wrong (audio) category. That happened because by default DVBViewer GE imports "unspecific" M3Us into a general streaming section of the channel list, indicated by a cyan root folder icon. This section covers all kinds of streaming including internet radio and even local multimedia files, provided there are DirectShow filters installed on your PC that are able to play it. I guess some third party component (LAV source filter?) tried to play your streams, but couldn't cope with it well enough. The more specialised TS stream sections have a purple icon. They are supposed to only contain entries referencing a transport stream source (local or internet streams including HLS, or local TS files). They are always regarded as live sources played by using the DVBViewer Filter (enabling recording, timeshift, PiP etc.), even if the source is a local TS file, thus allowing live simulation for testing purpose. with 4.1 I was able to open it, save it as .ini file then drag and drop it on the DVBViewer Channel list and it works! It worked after opening the streams in TransEdit, because the resulting INI file contains information about the TS stream content, so DVBViewer GE knew where to put it. Same applies to M3Us exported by TransEdit. If you want to import an unspecific M3U containing TS stream URLs into a TS stream section of the DVBViewer GE channel list, you need to tell DVBViewer GE as what it shall be imported by first selecting a (sub-)entry in an already existing TS stream section. If there is none, you can create it by right-clicking the channel list -> Add Root -> TS Stream. That's basically how it works. The DVBViewer GE channel list is very flexible in this respect. The general streaming sections are even able to work as playlist for local multimedia files, e.g. your MP3 collecfion. Furthermore, since every channel list item can be a favourite, you may create a mixture of live channels and files in the favourites menu, etc. Quote Link to comment
aydin1954
jep it all works now and I am very happy with the result that I can use DVBViewer that I used for years to watch TV using TV Tuner cards now with streaming devices like VBox and Fritz Repeater DVB-C. Traditional DVB-C over coax is going to be turned off in my county comes September as they now have connected each household to FTTH with internet, TV and Phone service. The Coax is very old and costly to maintain. It would have been too expensive to adapt all the coax outlets in my place so instead I choose to use streaming boxes that take the coax signal from the fiber modem and then stream over Power Line adapters to the house. Kodi, VLC and Power DVD all work too but DVBViewer has a much better interface and features. Quote Link to comment
