gipeau
Hello! I'm from Quebec,Canada and i would like to know if it is possible to program my skystar2 to scan one of the satellite here in north america.I bought this card two days ago and there were no instructions on how to program it.I can see Nimiq 1 and DirectTv 1 in the channel list, but can't seem to be able to transfer them in the wright location. Help please! Thanks for your time gipeau Quote Link to comment
Derrick
We can't receive these satellites in Europe. The transponder list of Nimiq1 only shows encrypted channels. You've got the wrong card. Quote Link to comment
gipeau
Do you say that my card is useless here in Canada and that it is good only for european satellite? Quote Link to comment
Guest Lars_MQ
No he said your card is useless with encrypted channels. Of course it works with Free to air channels also in canada Quote Link to comment

JohnDanciu
anesiem How did you manage to scan channels in Canada? One year later after this thread started and I cannot get any results. Could you, please, post your advice? Thanks, John Quote Link to comment
Benarty
You have to check two things. This nimiq has to broadcast mpeg2 or mpeg4/H264 in case of HDTV. I don't see only 6 HDTV channel on the Nimiq1 , none on Nimiq2 If channels are encrypted, a dvb card that has a pcmcia socket like for instance the digital everywhere Floppy DTV DVB-S2, a valid CAM and valid smartcard to unlock the encrypted channels. Many channels encrypted with Nagarvision. A sat card is always able to scan encrypted channels unless the option is disabled but you can't receive them without valid subscription. JohnDanciu
Thanks for your replay, Benarty. This is my dilemma: I am using a Hauppauge WinTV Nova-S on one computer and I can scan both Nimiq1 and Nimiq2 satellites using MyTheatre. I can see the names of both the encrypted and FTA channels. On the same machine, using DVBViewer 3.8.0.0 the scan results in 0 (zero) programs found. However, during the scan DVBViewer shows no signal strength even thought MyTheatre was showing 100%. So I concluded that maybe the drivers of the Hauppauge WinTV Nova-S don't work properly. As a result I moved to another machine where I have a Twinhan 1027 DVB-S and which also was capable of scanning the 2 satellites completely with no problems. Trying the same thing on this machine with DVBViewer 3.8.0.0 returns again 0 (zero) channels found. This time however, during the scan I could see the signal present at around 75%. During these tests I disconnected my DiseqC just to make sure that I don't have to mess around with the DiseqC settings in DVBViewer which were not quite so intuitive as the ones on MyTheatre. So, besides the suspicion that I am really stupid, what can it be mystery of this behavior? Or maybe DVBViewer is not so good after all? I hope not, 'cause I paid for it already. Upfront thanks for anyone who could help me raise above my stupidity. John Quote Link to comment
Derrick
Try transedit but make sure that you've got the corresponding inis in your transponder folder. Quote Link to comment
