skysat Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 In the Recorder Option window you can choice two different kind of mpeg recording: you can choice to register a .mpg file or a .m2p file. What's the difference between these two file formats and extensions? Is it only a matter of extensions or the file recorded in these two different ways are somehow - even just a little - different? If there's not even the smallest difference, why does the software give us the possibility of this choice? Quote
Derrick Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 If there's not even the smallest difference, why does the software give us the possibility of this choice? ..different programs sometimes want different extensions But I agree, it can be confusing. Quote
skysat Posted February 8, 2006 Author Posted February 8, 2006 Excuse me for insisting on it , but I still don't understand. Is it just a matter of extensions or there are some - even little - differences between the m2p and mpg files, between their structure, usability or compatibility? Quote
Griga Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 Same content, different extension. That's all. It was introduced for rework applications that want .m2p (= MPEG2 program stream) as input. Saves renaming. Quote
skysat Posted February 9, 2006 Author Posted February 9, 2006 Thank you very much, now it's all clear. Quote
