rebuss Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Hello to all, I want to buy the DVBViewer but I have one question before. Is it possible now to stream the the signal ober a 54mbit WLAN Network? I have read so much but someone said it works and someone said no. Could you help me. thsi is a very important thing for me before I buy the DVBViewer. Thanks for your help Regards Quote
Derrick Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 ..but someone said it works and someone said no. ..both are right You don't have a fixed bitrate over a wireless local area network. 54mbps will be the max. possible transmission rate with e.g. standard 802.11g. But this is the physical rate from which you have to deduct the overhead for the link protocols. The max. TCP/IP rate will be 24,4mbps, thus less than half the physical rate. UDP/IP is more efficient with 30,5mbps. Of course these rates will do to watch normal tv over wlan (though hdtv could already suffer ) but these rate are only available when reception is very good. In cases of disturbances from other wlans or rf-transmissions in this band (802.11b,g ->2,4GHz) the throughput can be much less. Same will be the case with walls and other obstacles between access point and client. You see, if it doesn't work it's not the fault of the application Quote
rebuss Posted March 6, 2006 Author Posted March 6, 2006 Hello Derrick, much thank you. Could you say me, how many bandwith I need to watch a streamed programm? If my card has a fallback to perhaps 15 mbit (including the overhead) is it also enough? Or is the 24,4 that you have said the minimum. sorry that I understand it not so good but my native language is german and not english Quote
Derrick Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 ..repeat the last question in the German section and I will answer you in German Quote
