Recording resolution problem

When I record programs (using PS MPG) the resultant file seems to have the wrong resolution (I suspect in the header?). The file itself plays correctly in WMP & ZoomPlayer std as you would expect it. However the "properties" of the file say 544x576 rather than 1024x576 which is what the file should be. This is a problem when it comes to advert removal or conversion as other software believes the file is 544x576.

So any way to correct the resolution to the actual resolution of the stream?

Using DVBViewer 3.2.60 with a Kworld DVBT100 PCI card on XP system.

The 544x576 resolution is commonly used by DVB transmissions (particularly DVB-T, due to the lower bandwidth compared to DVB-S). So DVBViewer is correct, you are not. DVBViewer records the headers as they are broadcasted.

Why do you think it should be 1024 x 576??? DVB transmissions don't use such a resolution. The most frequently used resolutions are 720 x 576 (full PAL) or 704 x 576. Both are DVB and DVD compliant.

544 x 576 is DVB compliant as well, but not DVD compliant, so DVD authoring may require some patching in this case. Search the web for DVDPatcher.

okay, yes it is 544x576 - sorry WMP reported it as 1024x576, so didn't think it was 544x576. Forgot that it's probably can be 544x576 with non-square pixels.
