AMacdonald Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 First off, is DVBViewer controllable from the command-line? Is it possible to automate recordings by specifying recording information on the command-line when running the program? I want to automate recordings from Digiguide. Are the parameters detailed anywhere? If it is, what do I download in order to evaluate the system? Do I need the Technisat edition or is there a trial download I simply haven't found yet? Many thanks Quote

Many thanks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes DVBViewer is controllable from the command line. I recommend that you do a search on the forum and you will find the answer to all your questions about the command line. There's no evaluation version . This question has been answered many times so if you want an explanation why use the search function! You can use the freely downloadable Transedit if you want to be sure that it will work with your hardware. But I guess it's very hard to go wrong with DVBViewer... Quote

Would I be right in assuming that there are no parameters to kick off unattended recordings? Thanks for your help. Quote
jf2020 Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 (edited) I only see parameters related to viewing. Would I be right in assuming that there are no parameters to kick off unattended recordings? http://www.DVBViewer.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=5276&st=0 Look at the end of the thread. Should be the ready to use solution for Digiguide! In short there are may ways to schedule recordings programmatically with DVBViewer. A simple one is just to generate/edit the timers.xml file that conatins all the recordings. You can also use the COM interface (look in the plugin/mod section anf the scripting section of the forum). There's also the DVBTaskScheduler plugin that will wake up you PC from S3 or S4 (not all motherboards allow that) and launch DVBViewer. Edited April 23, 2006 by jf2020 Quote
AMacdonald Posted April 23, 2006 Author Posted April 23, 2006 I use DVBMon to interface Digiguide to my recording apps. It does everything I want (I wrote it, in fact) so I may see about putting together a shim utility to generate the relevant timers.xml file. It's time I did some work with XML anyway. Many thanks for the pointers. Angus Quote
