Silenius Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Hello, does DVBViewer support the Phoenix Smartmouse reader (native or via plugin)? I'd like to watch pay channels (legally of course!) but I don't have CI on my sat card (SS2). Thanks Sil

jargon Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 The forum rules do not allow this question, because softcams are not legal! We had this discussion several times... Correction to that. [removed] are perfectly legal. At least in all EU countries, and to my knowledge also in USA. That is as long as you use geniue smartcard from Cable/Satellite operator. Technically these is no difference between [removed] and CAM module that is connected to DVB card. Yes it is true that [removed] can be used with pirate keys. But CAM module can be used with pirate card so no difference. Actually I myself am currently looking for [removed, violating forum rule §13] for DVBViewer. And yes I do have subscription from my cable operator. Jarno
Derrick Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 No, you're wrong! DVB uses the common scrambling algorithm CSA. To make use of this algo, a hardware implementation is mandatory ! Check with ETSI.
