Croc Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 (edited) i been told left right and centre how good DVBViewer is so i went ahead and paid for it today. after welcome email i downloaded and i see no support for positioners. i hope there is a plugin for this or else this was nothing more but wasted money. with so many sats on our sky can't understand why any software would be missing such feature if there is no way to get this fixed i would like to know if i can get my money back Edited July 26, 2006 by Croc Quote
Derrick Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 ..some people do read before buying You didn't say what hardware you're using. DVBViewer is a legacy application for Technisat's SkyStar2 PCI cards. These cards can't drive H2H mounts via the LNB output. That is the reason why there is no diseqc 1.2 support. You could argue: but what's with other cards? The concept is that DVBViewer is a universal application for all cards with BDA drivers. Alas diseqc is not a part of this standard. It has to be implemented for each manufacturer seperately. To my knowledge there is no plugin for diseqc at least not for the time being. But I'm quite sure that it will come Quote

But I'm quite sure that it will come going by what i seen on forums this is years old excuse, and quite poor too by my books and i paid for the "retail" version and not SS2 version of DVBViewer. progdvb and mytheater have no issues with positioners and cards that use bda drivers so is very clear it can be done in form of generic format, if ss2 doesn't have enough power to drive positioner then i'm sure simple detection of such device in system could be put in place to disable positioner support. and me not reading ahead doesn't really make this old excuse look any better. well now that this is clear one thing left to ask can i get my money back? DVBViewer is 100% useless for me without positioner support. You didn't say what hardware you're using. i'm using twinhan 6090 4 tuners in one, 2xdvb-s 2-dvb-t diseqc 1.2 supporter and confirmed by philips that there is no problem driving HH type of positioners right off the card. To my knowledge there is no plugin for diseqc at least not for the time being. But I'm quite sure that it will come how sure are you? it seem that people were asking for it for not weeks or months but years and it seem that nothing was done about it. ... But I don't want to argue.. ..however, it shows that you were either already aware of this fact or it could have been found in no time But I don't give refunds anyway i had no idea about this major limitation, i paid for it then install it just to discover that positioners are not supported and came to look for fix or plugin or anything else that would get it sorted but instead i just see lots of people asking for it and developer refusing to add it. what i'm even more puzzled with is how on earth i had so many people telling me that DVBViewer is the best and how great is the developer behind it, i find it quite strange seeing how for few years now he just ignores the issue well since it doesn't look like i'm going to get a refund i can write off this money as wasted for nothing.
