Best Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 I have a Twinhan Mantic Cab CI, since all but 3 channels are encrypted here I got a Conax CAM to use with it. When I start the PC the decryption works for max 1 hour apart from one freak time when it was working 30 some hours. The CAM is identified as a Conax 4.00e When i look at the CAM slot I can see that the pins are of uneven length. 6 pins are much longer and 2 are much shorter. I dont think its a DVBViewer problem, but a driver or hardware thing. I'm going crazy now.. ARGH! Somone got a tips about what to do to get it working? or is my card ---------------ed. Quote
Engelbert Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 I suspect the problem is due to the CAM. Know you this lent verify with one? Quote
Derrick Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 ..could be the module but imho it's more likely that the DVBViewer does not handle the CI correctly. The different lenght of some pins is by design due to hot insertion and swapping When a module is plugged in the pin configuration is such that the power and ground are applied first, then thedata & control signals, and lastly the module detect pins. The PC Card socket is designed with different pin lengths for different signals. The power & ground pins arelongest (5.00 mm), the signal lines are next (4.25 mm), and the Card Detect pins are shortest (3.50 mm). Assuming reasonably conservative values for insertion velocity, the signal pins will begin to connect between 3 and 5 ms after the power pins connect, and the Card Detect pins 3-5 ms after that. Guest Lars_MQ Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 imho it's more likely that the DVBViewer does not handle the CI correctly. As I stated several times, the DVBViewer doesn't handle the CI at all. The Driver/Card does and the DVBViewer only talks to the Driver. Quote
Best Posted September 9, 2006 Author Posted September 9, 2006 (edited) Engelbert: why do you suspect the CAM? both the card and the CAM module is bought new in the last weeks. I dont know enyone I can verify with that the cam is 100% working, but wil try to find somone then. I use the latest driver from the twinhan website 1.024 or somthing.. Engelbert Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 At faults one must begin someplace to search. One can very easily have a try a CAM exchange (with friends?). Quote
