abaader77 Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Hi Has anyone succeeded in timer-recording a encrypted channel (legaly ofcourse) on one tuner while watching another (free or encrypted) on another tuner? When I do this, the created MPEG-file is corrupt in some way and neither DVBViewer or Windows Mediaplayer is able to open the file. When DVBViewer is listing all my recordings in "full view mode" these corrupt recordings are prefixed with an asterix sign "*" Could it be that these channels are stored in encrypted format and needs to be decrypted before watching them? Please help! Quote
Engelbert Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Please post some more information: http://www.DVBViewer.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2210 Quote
abaader77 Posted September 14, 2006 Author Posted September 14, 2006 Please post some more information: http://www.DVBViewer.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2210 I'll do that when I get back home. Until then, what does the "*"-sign in front of the recording in the DVBViewer-"recordinglist" (going to full screen, accessing the menu by "esc"-key and selecting "recordings") actually mean? Quote

More than one encrypted channel at the same time would be only possible with a corresponding number of CI_devices. Even on the same transponder you can only decrypt one channel with a single CI. The reliability of timer-recordings with the DVBViewer from encrypted channels is imho not always given.. Could it be that these channels are stored in encrypted format and needs to be decrypted before watching them? I don't know which format you've chosen in your settings. Encrypted mpeg is not possible, because the program needs decrypted elementary streams before multiplexing them into a program stream (PS). Please check whether the size of your weird recordings is > 0 A recorded transport stream (TS) could be encrypted because it's in the raw format as it is transmitted. But in case of the DVBViewer you can't decrypt these files because there are no ECMs recorded (possible with the videorecorder-plugin but the PIDs have to be set manually). The latter would require a [removed, violating forum rule §13] because a recorded stream can't be re-routed through the ci_module again. This is not legal and therefore the discussion stops at this point Quote
