Eson Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Is there a way to do this? And can you make the MCE Remote turn the computer of instead of putting it to sleep with the off-button? I know it wont be possible to turn the computer on again with the remote but it would be a handy feature. Nothing to do with DVBViewer though. Quote

I think I have the answer to my second question, change in power settings in control panel and set the computer to power off when sleep button is pressed. Would be great if we could have DVBViewer to launch from remote. Quote
klausb Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Hi Eson, I have my MCE waking up my HTPC from standby (S3). You need to make sure, that - the USB receiver has power during standby - the USB device can wake up the computer from S3 (hardware settings) and probably this registry entry: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\usb] "USBBIOSx"=dword:00000000 Although I have not set it explicitely, it set on my PC. Maybe this thread (http://www.DVBViewer.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=9271&mode=linearplus) gives you more insight (unfortunately in german). Hope this helps, klaus. Quote

Thanks for the reply, but its not what im after. I dont like stand by, thats why I wanted the computer to power off with the remote. Power on I can get up and push the button on the computer, Im fine with that. Now Im mostly interested in launching DVBViewer with the MCE Remote, havent found a solution yet. Quote
klausb Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Hi Eson, if understand you correctly, what you want is to start DVBViewer with your remote and your PC is already running. Programs like HIP and EventGhost can do that. I tried EventGhost recently. The Python COM API used in the DVBViewer pluging (shipped with the latest download) starts DVBViewer, once you press a remote button assigned to a DVBViewer command. HIP allows you to assign a special button to an application and launch it via HIP's OSD. The option most people do here, is to autostart DVBViewer after your PC wakes up from standby. Check the DVBViewer-Scheduler settings for details. Regards, klaus. Quote
