Technisat AirStar2 problem

I have purchased the full version of DVBViewer Pro 13.8.2006 but since then I am still not able to make it work with my Technisat AirStar2. The bundled software DVBViewer Technisat Edition works fine but the Pro version displays error message "hardware not found".

I have tried to reinstall the software, removed TE and install Pro version again but with no success. Now I am still using TE, but I would like to use the Pro version I have purchased because of additional features (scheduler, wake up from Standby, MC interface..). Can you help, please? :bye:

Did you perform a channel scan? DVBViewer Pro displays this message after it failed to tune one of the (default) satellite channels, if there is no DVB-S device. In this case "hardware not found" means "no matching hardware for this channel found".

Thanks, it lead me to the solution - there was 2 sattelites already in the setup but no DVB-T! I have deleted them, selected Reception type - Terrestric, changed Transponder List to Terrestrial (AUS) and clicked Scan Range. Then it finaly tuned all TV channels. :bye: Great. Now I can finally start using the software.

Bu tI have to say it is extremelly user unfriendly and difficult. I suggest to create some type of simple startup settings, step by step during the setup, where it should ask at least what type of reception user is going to use (sattelite, terrestrial, cable) and made channel search. Also I see no reason why are there already MTV, RTL... in Channel menu while I have only Czech TV channels from free-to-air broadcast.

You are right. Something like this should be added. The setup even won't have to ask, because after the automatic device detection on first launch, DVBViewer already knows what the user is going to receive. But it doesn't make use of this knowledge. :bye:

IMO that's one of the weakest points of current DVBViewer versions (including DVBViewer GE, the one I'm programming). It's due to the fact that we are only few developers, only one a full time professional, the remaining mostly volunteering in their spare time without getting paid for it, and there are so many things to do and so many things that users want and so many problems that have to be handled... programming such a setup assistant is much more work than you might assume.

When I think about it, it always comes down to the conclusion that software that is expected to fulfill so many requirements should be sold for at least 50 Euro, not for 15, and major updates should not be free, in order to enable a second or third full time programmer to earn his livelihood with working on DVBViewer enhancements. But as it is... you have spent 15 Euro, plus the time that was necessary to find out how to set DVBViewer up. In the end, you'll always pay, in one or the other way...
