soothsayer Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 My Win Tv HVR-900 has no burned out and i'm looking to buy another WinTV product and i see the WinTv Nova T PCI is a supported hardware and i wondered if the new WinTV Nova-T 500 is supported by DVBViewer? I wouldn't like to burn out the card because of trying to record 2 streams at once, (which i think i did with my old one hence the not working anymore) If anyone is using it now please tell me if it a worth while investment for recording DVB-t. Thank you Quote

Thank you As long if the the T-500 has stable WDM drivers or better BDA drivers, then this shouls work under DVBViewer. Have no idea on the quality of the T-500 so best wait for some more answers. Guest Lars_MQ Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 WDM Drivers are NOT supported, only BDA. Quote
soothsayer Posted November 16, 2006 Author Posted November 16, 2006 Thanx for the info, but could you explain what do WDM and BDA stand for and is BDA a better option for DVBViewer? Quote
Gioxy Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 what do WDM and BDA stand for Windows Driver Model = old type of Windows multimedia hw driver originally designed for Win98 & Win2K (only old or badsupported hw use WDM nowadays!) Broadcast Driver Architecture = new type of Windows multimedia hw driver introduced with DirectX 9 is BDA a better option for DVBViewer? DVBViewer was originally created for the Technisat SkyStar2 PCI card only, and from V3.2.3 is supporting other hw provided with (well designed) BDA driver... Till now there are no others chance for use DVBViewer, nor available, nor projected... Quote
soothsayer Posted November 16, 2006 Author Posted November 16, 2006 Thanx all Well it look like i'll get it anyway and see the results. thanx all for your input M Quote
Gioxy Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 It seems that the WinTV Nova-T 500 has a BDA driver (witch however can't assure that it's fully working with DVBViewer): find it at bottom of this page of the Hauppage UK forum Good luke! Quote
soothsayer Posted November 19, 2006 Author Posted November 19, 2006 Oh well it doesn't work well, it doesn't want to initialise the device properly. It was great using this software and hate to stop using it. Maybe in a few years when i get satalite. Bye then thanx Quote
Benarty Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 WDM Drivers are NOT supported, only BDA. Well, If I install the WDM drivers then DVBViewer works but as explained in the twinhan 1030A thread very unstable video. BDA works a bit better on FTA channels but encrypted fail completely as explained in the same thread. Quote
