Benarty
Received new harddisk and just installed windowsXP home again, system up to date: Intel mobile T2500 dual core 2Ghz MSI I945GT SpeedsterAR4 ATX mainboard 2x512MB DDR667Mhz ram MSI ATI X1600Pro - 256MB Pci express fanless video Twinhan DVB-S 1030A + Seca2 cam+smartcard both valid from provider. Coba 300W fanless PSU...has been tested. Typical temperatures 28/01/2007: CPU : 37°C Videocontroller : 48°C Harddiskchassis : 29°C Coba ATX PSU : 41,5°C North bridge I945: 35,5°C South bridge : 34,5°C Twinhan Tuner : 38,5°C Harddisk, videocard, cpu heatsink uses heatpipes. On windows side: device manager shows that the videocard and twinhan share the same IRQ (IRQ16) I rather would like to avoid that but no idea how once windows is installed and don't want to mess with another HAL. Still strange that DVBViewer acts a bit different compared with the previous install on the faulty drive. More info on that at end of message. Now: DVB-S reception: Both WDM as BDA drivers have no problem with FTA channels. Encrypted channels are a big problem. BDA: can not access any encrypted channel. WDM: can tune into encrypted channels but video not stable. Not stable means : once tuned a static image (looks like stream lost) or when it starts good, sudden image freeze, non auto recoverable and usual a few minutes after tuning till approx 1 hour after tuning. Rebuilt the graph helps sometimes, not always. I've tried: - Different codec's (Ulead, Intervideo, PowerDVD7) - Different view modes (overlay, vmr7/9) : only overlay works good. VMR always choppy video. CPU load is also a bit higher compared to VMR. - Used another skin (frosh) - disabled DVBViewer update, newsfeed download, siefern/mediahighway. - tested with and without nvidia's post processor. Unfortunately, DVBViewer has no signal strengt indication, no signal los indication(and if there is one, I never saw it on screen), since the problem is cam related poor cam menu. I would not mind all of this if reception would be stable. Windows error: When: sometimes after switching channel, most of the time at closing DVBViewer. Appname :DVBViewer.exe modver : 5.1.2600.2180 Appver : 3.6.0.2 Offset : 00018fea Modname : ntdll.dll No idea why thims occurs suddenly. Had no problem with that on faulty drive. This windowsXP home version is more up to date tho. support.zip Quote Link to comment
Derrick
When: sometimes after switching channel, most of the time at closing DVBViewer. Appname :DVBViewer.exe modver : 5.1.2600.2180 Appver : 3.6.0.2 Offset : 00018fea Modname : ntdll.dll I often get similar errors. Try without all plugins.. ..though that is no solution. In the end, the DVBViewer is not as stable as is always alleged btw. outside temperatur at 15:42 is 8,7°C Quote Link to comment
Guest Lars_MQ
Try without all plugins.. ..though that is no solution. Can you pinpoint which plugin of the DVBViewer excacly is causing the problem? if it is not from the official side, please contact the author and do not use this plugin, we will of course take NO responsibility for problems cause by other software. Benarty
Update: windows error happens only when I slelect the quit from the context menu that is reached via rightclick. If closing via OSD, then no error. Using Cyberlink DVD decoder in combination with nvidea posy processor works better then using nvidua mpeg decoder and nvidia post processor. Last check on encrypted channel almost 150 minutes without problem so that's a record. I'll run a long test tonight. Channel switching stay's a problem. Strange that, if I choose another channel, and the channel is tuned, freezed video so still image as result.....and.....I select rebuilt graph...then the video is shown. Has DVBViewer no video detection? if yes, then I assume that there's no signal loss but merely a processing problem. I don't use any additional plugin. Quote Link to comment
Benarty
Sporadic also the windows error when using the exit from OSD. Video seems stable now, the long test tonight should comfirm that. But: There are still too many ocations where the channel tuned correctly but no video Note: in such case, also no audio so you might consider this as lost of stream but that is sure not the case. Benarty
I often get similar errors. Try without all plugins.. ..though that is no solution. In the end, the DVBViewer is not as stable as is always alleged btw. outside temperatur at 15:42 is 8,7°C I do hope that the inside temperature in your house is higher then the outside temperature :-) Video did not pass test completely: It doesn't happen frequently but for unknow reason, audio still plays but video becomes jerky...so now an then a few frames processed, then still image for e certain time, again few frames processed.......and so on..... Rebuilt graph fixes this problem but this feature seems a bit rediculous to me. Playback should be 100% stable. Again: signal strenght indicator? Clear and correct signal lost warning? Micsoroft blaims it in twinhan driver, twinhan blaims it on DVBViewer..I guesst you both twinhan and microsoft. Quote Link to comment
Benarty
update: The video that starts to play jerky : I waited thil this happened again and after 26 minutes, yes, here it was. So I wanted to record the efefct and post a link to the recorded video so you could get an iidea how it looks but I was surprised that the recorded material was....fine. This proves that the stream is not interrupted nor cam problem but something else. What exactly, no idea cause support.zip can not point to the problem at all. I'm gonna downgrade the ati driver to see if it fixes the problem. Also re_install DVBViewer from scratch again. I would love to use BDA but since CAM does not work..btw, there's a TT api, isn't there such thing for twinhan? My google attempt was not successfull. Quote Link to comment
Benarty
ATI driver downgraded and tested serveral versions. Mainboard chipset drivers : several versions tested. Audio drivers: also here, several versions tested. Still not stable. I'm running DVBViewer as shell right now and this seems the most stable approach but still not what it should be. I've found DVBViewer 3.5 on a backup, will try that but after that, then it's clear that it's software related. There is no temperature problem, tried in open air (around 10°C) and 4 12cm fans on top of the open chassis but same problem. Quote Link to comment
Benarty
V3.5.0 and beta 3.5.0.1 did not solve it. Sice the DVBViewer forum member had nothing to say on this itm, then we have to conclude that the setup does not work. Fault is DVBViewer and Twinhan, Microsoft was the only party that did follow up on the problem. Quote Link to comment
Benarty
Update: I found out that, as soon when I record the stream, then the video error does not occur on life video. As soon when the recording stops, cause instant recording is limited in time , 16 minutes later, poof, no live video, still image. Usual sound turns off first, then video halts. Quote Link to comment
Benarty
Problem found. Once the gigabyte based on ATI X1600pro is removed so that the onboard I945GT is used then the problem is solved. Now I can use also the VMR modes which was not possible with the ATI so great. Unfortunately, the performance of the on-board video is not that good but there is the problem now in case I want to change this: The problem could be caused by: - X1600 hardware problem: but the card performed well with the rest, even 3D games. - X1600 driver problem : but I've tested all drivers, from ATI, from Gigabyte and Omega drivers. - BIOS problem: well, I've upgraded to latest bios V1.20 - power problem: nope, tested with 500W enermax PSU and still problems So, I find it risky to buy a new pci expresscard since it might not be video card related.
