mpeg2 decoder

I have a hc3100 projector connected to my ATI x1950 card on DVI port, and i use a DVBViewer to watch normal mpeg2 channels.

But I’m not satisfied with picture quality. For example my cable box and my DVD player have a much nicer decoding of picture without shadows and unclear fast moving scenes.

Cpu usage is about 10-13 % when I watch DVBViewer. I have tested with ATI decoder, powerdvd decoder and nero video/dvd decoder with almost same result. Some decoders are better then others but never as good as my real cable setup box.

Is there any high quality software decoder to use with DVBViewer?

The two best decoder/de-interlacing technologies nowaday *would have* to be:

NVidia Purevideo

Ati Avivo

I have a ATI X1300 and I'm not able to use the ATI decoder with the DVD player. I've tried to build a graph with graphedit but if I try to connect the "DVD navigator" to "ATI mpeg2 decoder" I have an error. Something like "unable to connect pins...".

I use the ATI decoder with the other sources (DVB) and I like more the image quality with respect to Purivideo or Dscaler, so I'd like to use the same decoder for DVDs. Can someone help me?

Thx

M.

Have you already tried to force DVBViewer to use the ATI decoder for DVDs setting it in "Settings/Options/DirectX/DVD Options"?

I've tried, but that works only with the DVB source, not with DVD. :)

Do the other decoder suggested (cyberlink, power dvd) use the avivo technology?
