bakerpr Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Should it be possible to update my cam firmware version from within DVBViewer cam menu? If not is there other software that can do this. Quote

No, DVBViewer can't write to cam's. It's also the wrong board to start such topic cause things move a bit towards illegal vieuwing soon. Quote
Derrick Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 OTA updates of CI modules is a well known method and in no way illegal. Dunno whether it will succeed with the DVBViewer.. Quote

Benarty Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 I ment: according to statistics used to decode encrypted channels withhout using subsription. DVBViewer does not support OTA. Quote
Derrick Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 OTA -> over the air Like many manufacturers of STBs (not "Schwäbischer Turnerbund" ) who send new firmware as data carousels on data channels, the same is done by some manufacturers of CI-modules (e.g. Mascom). The tv-application only has to send the corresponding PID to the module (in the ca_pmt). The rest is done by the module itself (extracting the firmware from the repeating data carousel). With the old and limited setting scheme of the DVBViewer it is probably not possible. Maybe you have to try with a different program Quote
