Desktop TV not working

I'm running DVBViewer V3.6.0.2 under Win XP home, and the Desktop TV entry in the view menu is always greyed out.

 

I've searched the forum and looked in the manual, but I can't find anything that would explain why it doesn't work. Is there some set-up instructions somewhere?

for Desktop TV you must use the Overlay Renderer, find under Options -> DirectX.
