Bombardier Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 (edited) I'm using the recording service to do my recordings, but it appears it won't record to a mapped network drive. Is this a feature, a bug, or am I doing something wrong? The actual DVBViewer program does the recording just fine to the mentioned drive. I know that not using the recording service, but windows task scheduler, should fix the issue in this case, because it launches DVBViewer, but I'd prefer to use the recording service. Also I have nowhere set the public videos folder that's in Vista, but still the recording service does the recording there. Any suggestions? Edit: oh, forgot to mention, the only target for recording I have in DVBViewer is that mapped network drive. Edited March 15, 2007 by Bombardier Quote
Lars_MQ Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 this is not a bug neither a feature, this is the way it is. Don't use a mapped network drive. the mapping is done in user context and the service runs out of any usercontext. A not password protected network drive with UNC naming (//server/folderfoo) should work. Quote
Bombardier Posted March 16, 2007 Author Posted March 16, 2007 (edited) Ah yes, makes perfect sense, thanks for the info. Since I have a hardware firewall, behind which my entire LAN is, I think I'll just open the folder up for free access and use UNC name. Edited March 16, 2007 by Bombardier Quote
