Imbalanced Zero Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 (edited) Previously I had been getting bad jitter when watching BBC HD on Vista. So I had a look on the net to see if I could do anything about it. Firstly I don't know if this has any real effect, but it seems to work for me. Under filters I choose DVB Source and change the latency setting to 1000ms. I have no idea what this really does, but it seems to help. And finally the most important changes are in the registry when using the Cyberlink H.264 Codec. I have had to add more dword entries, but it really seems to help(the ones is bold are the ones i have added): Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cyberlink\Common\cl264dec\DVBViewer] "UIUseHVA"=dword:00000001 "UIVMode"=dword:00000002 "UIGamma"=dword:00000000 "UICB"=dword:00000000 "UICR"=dword:00000000 "UICON"=dword:00000000 "UISAT"=dword:00000000 "TwinviewDXVA"=dword:00000001 "DecodeAllFrames"=dword:00000001 "SyncDelivery"=dword:00000001 "IHWMC"=dword:00000001 You could copy and paste this into a new reg file like dvbviewercodec.reg and merge it into the registry. Now when I watch BBC HD i don't get the jerkiness i used to get and the over time the fps doesn't decrease over time and jitter is minimal. Everything is a lot smoother and I am truly happy again! Hope this helps a few people. Edited April 3, 2007 by Imbalanced Zero Quote

If I use CoreAVC (v1.2 only as 1.3 does not work) it is jerky all the time. The strange thing is, if I record some bbc hd then play it back in media center classic, then playback is smooth with both decoders. My CPU runs at about 30% when the picture is jerky, and 50% when smooth, so I am not CPU bound. Anyone any ideas? As I am writing this, I just thought of trying if playback is jery in DVBViewer, when I playback a recording, i'll do this tomorrow. Quote

As I am writing this, I just thought of trying if playback is jery in DVBViewer, when I playback a recording, i'll do this tomorrow. It took me a while fiddling with settings until I got BBC HD running smoothly in DVBViewer. Then I too found that every now and then the picture goes jerky for a few seconds, then runs smoothly for a few seconds, goes jerky again and keeps repeating. My solution? I went into "View" in the menu, scrolled down and clicked "rebuild graph". The picture goes black for a second or so, rebuilds itself and then all the jerkiness goes and the picture is silky smooth once more. If I switch channels and come back to BBC HD later on, sometimes it happens again and I have to repeat the "build graph" operation once more. It usually solves the problem. Hope it works for you people. Gae Edited April 22, 2007 by Gae41 Quote
