Djiraan Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 (edited) I've been using DVBViewer + DVBServer for two weeks and I'm having a few problems. The main one is the server's stability: whenever there's a problem with the connection between the server and the client (say: wireless connection dropped; the computer where the client is goes to hibernation or suspension; the client hangs up [yeah, I can do that!, don't ask how!]), the server is unable to detect the problem and continues streaming. To make the server work again I have to close and restart it (stop+start doesn't work), which is a bother since I have to remote admin, etc. I think the problem is that the server don't detect that the client has been disconnected, and a further problem is that the server can't kick a client if the client is not there to be kicked. (connected clients etc) Well, it shows the client (that has already been disconnected) as connected. If I reconnect using the same computer, then it shows the name of the computer twice: the one that was disconnected and the new one. If I'm lucky, I can continue to watch the same channel I was watching before and (with a little more luck) others channels in the same transponder (if I try to change the transponder the client hangs up). If I'm not lucky, well, once it completely hung up my laptop with a frozen screen and a continuous noise . If I reconnect using another PC, the client that was disconnected still appears and the symptoms are the same: I can watch the same channel but better not try anything else.
