tonytone Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 HI ALL need some help setting up DVBViewer with single dish.single lnb and dish motor which is compliant with diseqc 1.2 and goto x or usals feature. i have done first scan of astra 28E and need to know the settings for say hotbird 13E so after that scan is stored i can click on a channel on astra 28E and the motor will turn from hotbird 13E back to astra28E. i have been experimenting but i need some expert setup advice please Quote
mr_chaela Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 (edited) It depends to some extent how you have arranged your scans of the different sats. I find the best way is to set a 'target root' in the scan menu for each individual sat with a meaningful name eg '13°E Hotbird'. This way each sat will have its own folder in the channel list. Before you start the scan, use the drop-down menu under Diseqc and select 'Goto Angular', This will open another drop-down menu labeled USALS where you can select the sat to drive to. ie the sat that you are scanning. If you have already scanned but not set these values, then open the Channel List Editor and either:- 1. If you have scanned as suggested above, then highlight the sat folder and set Diseqc and USALS values on RHS then hit Update. 2. If all your sats/channels are mixed under a common Target Root, then highlight each channel in turn and set the Diseqc and USALS values for each channel, not forgetting to hit update each time (an absolute pain with several hundred channels on each sat, hence why I use the method above). Don't forget that you must also enter the latitude and longitude of your location via Channel List Editor/Edit Diseqc. Another point to note is that there is a bug in the Goto Angular implementation in DVBViewer, whereby if your latitude is close to 0° then to drive to westerly sats you will need to use a Command String. To do this highlight any number, (0 - 255) in the Diseqc Editor then enter the Command String and Description (for description I would advise something like Hispasat 30°W). Once this is done, when setting the diseqc commands for scans/ channels/ target roots select Command string for Diseqc and select the appropriate string for USALS. There is a small program Diseqc.exe (search for it in this forum) that will calc the string for any sat just remember to enter the westerly sats as a negative number (eg Hispasat 30°W is entered as -30). Sounds rather complicated, but is quite easy really. hth ps. you need to enter the settings for each sat that you scan. Edited July 15, 2007 by mr_chaela Quote
