chrispazz Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 Hello. I noticed something strange when using Scheduler to handle restart of DVBViewer after standby of my PC. Sometime, when I wake up my PC after hibernation, DVBViewer does not start. If I start it manually, it starts ok. Or, if I hibernate and wake up the PC again (with DVBViewer closed) it starts correctly. Where can I look for solving this problem? Could it be DVBViewer that does not close correctly? I have set DVBViewer to restart after 5 seconds after wake-up (in scheduler settings). Thank you. Chris Quote
Hartwig Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 Did you know, Scheduler does only restart DVBViewer after moving the mouse oder using the keyboard after wakeup Have you tried a longer time (e.g. 10 seconds)? Quote
chrispazz Posted July 30, 2007 Author Posted July 30, 2007 Hi Hartwig, I didn't know. I can try this evening with a longer time (10secs). The only problem is that starting the pc from hibernation and waiting for other 10 secs could be a long time. Do u know any others way to restart DVBViewer on wake up? thank you Chris Quote
Hartwig Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 Could it be DVBViewer that does not close correctly?maybe...Try to change the value for "DVBCloseDelay=" inside scheduler.ini to a higher value. For example 7000 (=7 seconds). Than DVBViewer will have a little bit more time before hibernation or standby. I didn't know. I can try this evening with a longer time (10secs).The only problem is that starting the pc from hibernation and waiting for other 10 secs could be a long time. Yes, its a little bit long. Normally it only prevents you for hardware trouble doe to driver initialization. If you don't want to wait for mouse or keyboard action, add "RestartAutomatic=1" to Scheduler.ini into the section [frmScheduler]. But notice, if your PC wakes up accidentally, it will not go back to standby/hibernation automatically due to the running DVBViewer. DVBViewer starts without any mouse or keyboard event. If DVBViewer doesn't start automatically, have a look at the taskmanager. Is "DVBViewer.exe" still running? Quote
chrispazz Posted July 30, 2007 Author Posted July 30, 2007 I have added restartautomatic and also raised CloseDelay to 8 secs (it is not a problem if it is slow to hibernate). Now it seems to wake up correctly but I see next times. For now, thank you very much for your support! Christian Quote
chrispazz Posted July 31, 2007 Author Posted July 31, 2007 Hi Hartwig, the problem seems to be still here. I noticed that if I wake up pc after a little time (say some minutes), DVBViewer starts ok. If I hibernate pc in the evening and wake up it the following day, it does not starts. Today, after being waken up, I pressed OK on my MCE remote and DVBViewer has been fired up. Pls take care that my HTPC do not have keyboard or mouse connected. Only MCE usb receiver. It seems that the automaticrestart setting in scheduler.ini has been ignored..... Thank you Chris Quote
Hartwig Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Have you edited the right Scheduler.ini. Depending on your usermode in Usermode.ini, the right scheduler.ini will be on different places. But it's easy to find the right one. Start DVBViewer, go to Help / Info / Version Info and click on the blue link. There you'll find it. And is the new entry in the right section? [frmScheduler] RestartAutomatic=1 Quote
chrispazz Posted July 31, 2007 Author Posted July 31, 2007 (edited) Here it is my scheduler.ini: [scheduler] Username=[removed] Password=[removed] [frmScheduler] RunAfter=0 Left=245 Top=208 Width=336 Height=319 cbAutoSchedule=All cbScheduleOnStart=1 cbScheduleOnClose=1 cbScheduleOnSuspend=1 cbContinueWith=Default cbCloseOnShutdown=1 cbDontTune=0 cbAutoMinimize=1 udLeadTime=2 edSpecialParam=-c11 edBefore= edAfter= edSleepTime=0 DVBStartDelay=2500 DVBCloseDelay=3500 ScheduleDelay=2000 DVBRestartOnResume=8 Launcher=Scheduler.exe LaunchedFile=DVBViewer.exe cbStartMinimized=0 RestartAutomatic=1 [General] Version=2.1.0.0 yes, I am sure is the only one (and the correct one). rhama Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Hi there! Have you solved this somehow? I'm suffering samekind situation and I haven't found solution anywhere. My problem is: - When I hibernate PC with remote (I never shut down it) it hibernates fine. - After wakeup DVBViewer doesn't start even if I move the mouse. I have to start it manually. - Timed recording works fine when PC is running - Timed recording when PC is hibernated: PC starts in right time, desktop opens and it hibernates after right time, just like I wanted, BUT nothing is recorded! Intel P4 2.4 GHz HT 1 Gt RAM Windows XP Pro Hauppauge Nova-T 500 PCI DVBViewer 3.8.0 (in Windows startup-folder) DVBTaskScheduler 2.1.0 Settings: - Schedule NEXT... - When DVBViewer closes - On StandBy/Hibernate - Continue with Hibernate - Auto-Minimize DVB Task Scheduler to Tray - Restart DVBViewer Without tuning last channel - 1 minute lead time - 5 sec. Reastart on resume No username/psw used (settings are as in Task Scheduler's readme) No firewalls/virus scanners In DVBV "use Microsoft task..." is set. In Scheduler.ini "RestartAutomatic=1" Usermode=2 I'm wondering what I have missed, any suggestions? Thanks! Quote
