Hecxa Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 (edited) Network Streaming and dualtuner, how does it work? Has anyone tried Nova-T 500 with DVBServer? Instead of buying another dvb-t device I am planning to use Nova-T 500 with DVBServer. This should make possible for me (and to my wife) to watch any channel at the same time using stream from DVBServer, am I right? Not really sure if network streaming works the way I want it to work, with multiple tuner cards. In the DVBServer setting you can only select single device to work with? If I have two dvb-t devices, can they be selected simultaneously? How does network streaming work if I have for example two dvb-t devices, and one dvb-s unit? Current problem with single tuner card is that if we want to watch tv at the same time using DVBViewer as a client (two clients), we can only watch different channels broadcasted on the same frequency/MUX. If there is only one client connected to the server, it is possible (of course) to watch any channel on any mux. I am planning also to go ahead and buy Nova-T 500 and just try how it works, but if somebody has first hand experience with this issue help/answers is much appreciated. Tjod Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 With the current Version from DVBViewer you need two DVBServer (in two folders) for each tuner one. But in the next Version (current Beta) witch will be available in the next weeks you only need one DVBServer. Quote

Ok then, doesn't really clarify could dualtuner device solve my problem with MUXes, but as far as I understood it would work with two separate DVBservers and two devices wonderfully in my case. Situation in that case would be: - DVBserver#1 + Device 1 ==> Client#1 - DVBserver#2 + Device 2 ==> Client#2 In this case two clients have theyre own device so it doesnt matter what channel/mux they are watching. I would like use in this way and possibly resolve MUX problem if it is resolvable with just one dualtuner device: - DVBServer + dualtuner ==> Client#1, Client#2 ... Thanks! ps. DVBViewer is a damn good software, cant imagine using anything else right now, it sure was worth to buy! Edited August 3, 2007 by Hecxa Quote

Finally, got dual tuner device (WinTV-NOVA-T 500) and it seems to work just great. Using 3.8.0.0 version. I can tune in to a any channel, on any mux from two laptops via dvbserver. Yet to test some features like how far can I go with dual tuner, is it possible to record from one channel and watch other two. At least when I started to record a tv program from mux1 on a client machine, and tried to switch on a channel that is on mux2 I got warning that says "no hardware available!". Strange.... at the same time there was no other clients connected to dvbserver. Edited October 3, 2007 by Hecxa Quote
Hecxa Posted October 8, 2007 Author Posted October 8, 2007 (edited) are they encrypted? Nope I am able to leave client DVBViewer to record from dvb-t source and watch dvb-s source at the same time though. Kind a seems like DVBViewer doesnt understand that my dvb-t source is a dual tuner device. Edited October 8, 2007 by Hecxa Quote
Lars_MQ Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 You did define 2 dvb-t network devices on the client? Quote
Hecxa Posted October 9, 2007 Author Posted October 9, 2007 You did define 2 dvb-t network devices on the client? No I did NOT, DAMN! Somehow I thought that dvbserver is the "brain" that servers the stream from dual device to single device or, something. I think this is beginning to work Quote
