Kevin Steggles Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 Does anyone know why the BBC changes the frequencies for their regional output quite so often? It seems every few weeks I'm having to alter the settings for my region (North East and Cumbria). Today, for example, I had to change the Video and Audio PIDs by just a single digit. Is there really a need for all this tinkering? I guess my Sky+ box simply copes with this automatically. Quote
hackbart Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 The current beta, resp. the next version will have the option to update the channel. This only works if the Program Map Table PID is not changing. This is usually a "NoNo" for Broadcasters, but well some of them do not care. Christian Quote

I don't see a reason why a PMT_PID should not be changed. Though it is part of the PSI to find the corresponding elementary streams, it is not identifying the service. In case the PMT_PID is changed, it should be updated automatically as well.. Quote
hackbart Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 If you take care of the PAT - some devices only offer limited Pid filters you know Quote

Lars_MQ Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 PMT PID changes by PAT are covered. Not working (and not allowed) SID and/or TID changes. This WILL result in a service which is different to the current service and will lead to no update. This is covered by the ETSI TR 101 211 . Quote
