LePouSAT Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 Hi guys ! I just made a try on recording a HD TV channel and I got a .ts file while I set .MPG in the settings area ... First of all, why did i get a .ts instead of a .mpg ? And also, why this .ts is not playable in any video player (VLC, MEdiaPlayer Classic, Win Media etc ...) ? Thanks to tell me ... LePouSAT Quote

Griga Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 Using MPG (MPEG2 program stream) as container for H.264 content is very uncommon. Most software is not able to read and process it. That's why the possibility to record H.264 as MPG has been dropped in DVBViewer - several users ran into trouble by using it. However, the Videorecorder Plugin (available in the members area -> plugins section) still supports recording H.264 as MPG, and the TSPlayer (-> tools section) is able to repack H.264 TS as MPG, for special purpose. But don't expect too much from it... Quote
Moses Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 VLC (and probably most of the other players you mentioned) are able to play back .ts files, no matter if they contain MPEG2 or H.264 Videostreams... if there is no association with the ending, just create one, or use drag & drop. Quote

Thanks a lot guys ... I think I was completely dreaming to have not remembered that HD is H264 ... I'm gonna try those plugins just to see what it gives ... LePouSAT Quote
