resident Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 I have been using DVBViewer for some time now. My setup is as follows: One dedicated dvbserver with one dvb-t and 2 dvb-s tuners. At the moment only 2 clients running DVBViewer 3.8.0.0, but more will come. My problem is when I've been watching tv for some time it jitters and sometimes get's stuck. When this happens I have to restart the DVBViewer client application. It can then run for some time again. Does anyone else use dvbserver. If you do what are your experiences with it? Quote
Lars_MQ Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 I use DVBServer myself. Does work without problem. Runs for hours over wlan. Quote
Moses Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 sounds like you are expiriencing other problems... for example the Nvidia VRM Bug can produce similar symptoms (it does on one of my systems). You could add a support.zip of the client for further diagnosis or try to change renderer & decoders for a better result yourself. Quote
resident Posted August 23, 2007 Author Posted August 23, 2007 Thanks for all your answers. I have investigated more now and I think it's the dvb-s tuner in the server that's getting too hot. I will test it some more to be sure. Quote
zeflash Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Since I upgraded (or downgraded? I was using the beta releases before with a higher build number) to 3.8, I do also have issues with the streaming. As far as I know this is the only change to my setup - so I'll have to try with another version to make sure it's a problem with 3.8. I use VLC as the client, and every now and then the streamed video in VLC hangs, to resume a while later. Here is what I see in the message window of VLC: main warning: late picture skipped (69664) main warning: late picture skipped (151767) main warning: late picture skipped (233868) main warning: late picture skipped (315798) main warning: late picture skipped (398774) main warning: computed PTS is out of range (651029), clearing out main warning: timing screwed, stopping resampling main warning: PTS is out of range (651062), dropping buffer main warning: output PTS is out of range (671390), clearing out main warning: PTS is out of range (627112), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (603136), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (579188), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (555210), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (531229), dropping buffer main warning: late picture skipped (393922) main warning: late picture skipped (353965) main warning: PTS is out of range (511945), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (487978), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (464001), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (440024), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (416043), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (392065), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (376897), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (352929), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (328949), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (304970), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (280991), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (257012), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (244642), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (220680), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (196702), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (172722), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (148742), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (124770), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (103368), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (79412), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (55452), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (31475), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (7530), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (-16450), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (-31563), dropping buffer main warning: input PTS is out of range (688721), trashing main warning: computed PTS is out of range (664577), clearing out Has something changed in the netstream plugin? I used to be able to see the streamed video with an old version of VLC I had on a laptop, and it couldn't read anything anymore when I installed 3.8. With the newest release of VLC it can, although there are those regular dropouts. Quote
Moses Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 are you using WLAN? This reads like the network is just to slow for the stream, sometimes... maybe multicast could give you better results (but some routers doesn't suffer very much from such a stream, so better keep that in mind if you are getting more network problems). another problem could be that the dvbserver or the computer it runs on is under to heavy last from something. zeflash Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 No, it's a gigabit LAN; And the CPU is a dualcore that's barely impacted by DVBViewer. What's even weirder is that it stutters if I only have VLC running; if I run ultraVNC (remote control app) at the same time, no problems anymore. I'm puzzled. it used to work, yesterday it didn't anymore, today it works again. I can't pinpoint where the problem is. Network issue? Quote
