pastimer Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 (edited) Hi, I have never been able to get unicast going. I can multicast in 3.8 using videolan and sometimes in DVBViewer client. Atm i get a 'no hardware found' error but the unicast device is set to 'preferred'... Could someone please give a brief coherent outline for the installation of a unicast/multicast client especially when you have 2 or more dvb-cards on the server? I read some discussions ... ini files ... rename devices ...second ip adress ... the trick works .... . but i dont understand half of these discussions. I tried the manual but i guess too much has changed since. Regards, Eppo Edited August 23, 2007 by pastimer Quote
Moses Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 if you want to use more than one device from a dvbserver (or from more than one dvbserver!) concurrently, you have to add more network devices to the client. You can do that editing the usermode.ini in the DVBViewer folder and then do a fresh hardware scan in DVBViewer. Another important thing is, that you set the other parameters for the networkdevices correctly. If you are using CI in dvbserver, tick "Has CI" on at least one of the network devices. If you don't have DVB-S cards but Cable or DVB-T, change the tuner type accordingly. If you have a DVB-S2 card in the server, enable at DVB-S2 in at least one network device... You should scan channels at the server and copy the list to the clients (scanning on the clients is possible, too since the latest version, but some people had some problems with it). Quote

Ok , that's a fine start for tonight, many thanks. I will report my progress tomorrow. Edit: Scanning from the client worked under Vista and partly under XP (couldnt get a scan from the s2-3200 there) so we're getting there. DVBViewer has made tremendous progress with this version of dvbserver. It's very stable and switches fast, PIP worked flawless. Only startup and switching to another unicast device is slow (very slow). I'm quit happy and are now going to the next step: the remote control. Thanks a lot for your help so far.
