pastimer Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Hi, I have setup dvbserver with 2 dvbcards, unicast. It more or less works well. I noticed that it can take quite a while for dvbserver before it actually starts streaming. Once busy, all is well. Changing channels on one card is fast. Now my question: Is it possible to run multiple dvbservers on the server machine, using differnt ports? If it is, i think i would prefer that above one dvbserver handling two or more cards. Quote
Lars_MQ Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 can take quite a while for dvbserver before it actually starts streaming Well that's normal. It's the initialization and first tuning of the hardware. Quote
pastimer Posted August 24, 2007 Author Posted August 24, 2007 Well that's normal. It's the initialization and first tuning of the hardware. It's 10 seconds+ ... That's a long time initializing, also compared to other such servers. The server goes into a state where windows calls it 'Not responding' and when it returns it runs OK. But maybe you can answer my question about multiple instances of the dvbserver as well? Quote
Moses Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 That is still possible. But where is the advantage? Quote
pastimer Posted August 24, 2007 Author Posted August 24, 2007 (edited) That is still possible. But where is the advantage? So it's possible to use multiple clients accessing different sources (or the same transponder on the same source, why not) using one dvbserver instance unicasting? Moses Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 (edited) Sure. If you have for example 3 devices managed by one dvbserver you can be sure that 3 DVBViewer clients can do wathever they want. A fourth client will still be able to choose from at least 3 transponders (worst case if all the other clients are on their own transponders). There is no reason anymore to run more than one dvbserver... at least I couldn't find one. Edited August 24, 2007 by Moses Quote
